Trucking has always been in my blood. From the early 70's until today I have experienced a small lifetime of knowledge. But never have I said "I know it all' because if your not learning everyday you have become complacent and dangerous. I see behaviors today that just drive me crazy. Such as :

Following distance
Not signaling
Unnecessary passing
Texting and distracted driving
Speeding
Move over law not adhered to

Too many bad habits and not enough penalties.

Did you know as a business owner who employs people to drive work vehicles, you have an ongoing responsibility to ensure that those people are properly licenced?

A officer on patrol on in the Township of Springwater stopped this CMV today to conduct a commercial vehicle inspection. It was determined that the driver was operating under two concurrent license suspensions and had been for several weeks. Additionally the drivers pre-trip was incomplete and surrendered expired insurance documents.

If, in this situation, the driver had been under suspension for a period of 100 days or greater then, depending on the nature of the suspension, the vehicle may be seized by police for a period of seven days. Luckily for this company that was not the case.

The driver was charged with:
✅ driving under suspension - family support
✅ driving under suspension - unpaid fines
✅ fail to notify change of address
✅ fail to accurately complete daily inspection report
✅ fail to surrender valid insurance card

The company received charges for:
✅ permit unlicensed person to drive commercial motor vehicle
✅ fail to ensure daily inspection report is accurately completed
✅ fail to surrender valid insurance card

Do your due diligence and protect your company from these types of road-side discoveries.

on these slippery roads! ^cn
