KO Racing
Welcome to KO Racing, a sportsman drag racing team located in Victoria Australia.
After we worked out there was a loose wire on the ignition box, the Camira is๐ฅALIVE!๐ฅ
Thanks to Rod Camilleri for his persistence and Leanne Bernhard for her patience ๐
The springs are stuffed but they'll be replaced. Now on to the suspension to get the car launching straight. Another major step in the right direction.
Ready to fire up the Camira this week. Another step closer to hanging a skid for the first time in a looooooooong time ๐
The dash and steering wheel are all wired up. Now to test ๐ค๐ซ๐ฅ
Well, that's a wrap on the fuse/relay panel, shifter connections and transbrake etc. Now on to finishing up the gauges and alternator.
I'm not 100% happy with how things turned out, especially with the wiring coming to/from the fuse/relay panel. But it's just aesthetics. If I did it again, I'd have the inputs and outputs on different sides of the panel.
Anyway, there's nothing "technically" wrong with it.
Doh! One connector short to finish the delay box wiring. I did get the shifter wiring sorted - neutral safety, line-lock and shift solenoid nice and neat.
This wiring caper seems to go on and on and on and on ๐ค
Nice day to be working in the shed. The fuse/relay panel is done, and now I'm hooking up the various looms.
Time for fish & chips and a few beers ๐
Some good progress over the weekend with the delay box wired up, new gauges and updates to the fuse/relay panel. A couple more weeks and the Camira will be ready to fire up and test the various systems.
Another job ticked off. The new radiator is fitted with all new hoses and overflow. Not long now and I'll be able to hang my first skid after 9 years!
Another productive weekend in the shed working on the Camira.
The front fuse/relay panel has been mounted, ready to be hooked up to the wiring harness. The one in the boot for the fuel pump and lights is done and tested.
The steering wheel got a birthday with some paint and new transbrake buttons and cords. While I was at it, I also mounted a rear-view mirror. Iโm going to be leaving first more often than not, so I thought Iโd better be able to see them coming.
This week Iโll be finishing off the radiator and mounting it in the car. That leaves the remaining wiring and a general tidy-up before I can fire her up and test everything.
Not long now ๐
The last few weeks have been a busy time in the shed for KO Racing. With the new season rapidly approaching the credit card has taken a bashing while I'm burning through the midnight oil ๐
After finding a few issues with the wiring, I've decided to replace the lot. This has been a bit of a learning curve for me but Youtube to the rescue.
I'm also upgrading the cooling system so that hopefully I can drive the Camira up and back from the staging lanes. It's always run a little hot. If the radiator and fan upgrade don't run cool enough, I'll look at moving the trans cooler to the rear of the Camira to create more space for a shroud and pull-through fan.
Apart from those upgrades, I've also been working on the rear suspension, brakes and a general tidy-up. She's been sitting for a long time, so everything that can leak, crack or fade has ๐คฃ
Fingers crossed ๐ค I can get it finished soon and head to Heathcote Park Raceway for some testing.
Productive afternoon in the shed getting ready for the new season. All the interior is back in and nice and clean.
Big thanks to KustomKraft for the new race stickers. They look fantastic and super easy to put on!
New boots have arrived! Thanks to Craig at Trackside Race & Rally. Another step closer to hanging a skid ๐
