Well done to all Munster players at last weekend's national matchplays. Special mention to Alessia Popescu and Camille McDonnell who competed in the all Munster under 14 girls final. Alessia came out victorious this time but well done to both on a fantastic weekend. Well done also to Elina Popescu and Andrew Gaule who both finished 3rd and Amy McCarthy who finished 4th. It is great for all these kids to train together every weekend and we really see the benefit of this at national events

Yesterday we had our latest Munster Performance day in Limerick Lawn. The day consisted of physical screening, tactical sessions and matchplay. It was a fantastic day, which was made even better by the arrival of Irish tennis pro and former Munster performance player Sam Barry. Sam spoke to the players about his tennis journey from Munster performance squads all the way to competing against some of the best players in the world at professional level. Huge thanks to Sam for taking the time to share the afternoon with us. Huge thanks also to Limerick Lawn for the use of their fantastic facilities.

The Munster performance programme continues to grow and we have new regions again this term. With so many different squads and the start of our high performance programme this is sure to be the best term yet. Munster tennis has had an incredible year to date and it is our aim to improve on that for the rest of the year and into next year.

Great read!!!

Tennis Parenting for Dummies - TennisConsult. Advice from tennis experts Tennis parenting for dummies. As parents, we need to understand what we do not know. Just because we competed in high school sports or play some tennis at the local club does not mean we know what is best.

Best of luck to Munster performance player Katie Morrissey who competes in the semi final of the ITF event tomorrow in Malahide. A tough task awaits Katie as she takes on number 1 seed Taylor Cataldi from the USA. However we are sure that Katie will do herself and her province proud as always. It has been a fantastic week for Katie so far. Best of luck Katie from everybody at Munster tennis

MUNSTER PERFORMANCE PARENTS INFORMATION NIGHT!!!

Last Tuesday evening we had our latest parents information night in Fota Island Resort. With the Munster Performance Programme growing massively it is very important for the parents to understand the programme going forward. Huge thanks to our 3 speakers on the night. National performance co-ordinator, Garrett Barry, Munster performance director, Cian Blake and Mark Finnegan from All Sports Recruitment agency who spoke about tennis scholarships to America for Irish kids.

We have the biggest performance programme in the country and the results over the last 12 months are there for all to see from regional to international level. Huge thanks to the parents who took time out from the great weather to come on the night. We look forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming opens over the coming months.

Huge well done to Munster performance player Olwyn Ryan Bovey and Leinsters Anna O Farrell who made it all the way to the final of the ITF event in David Lloyd, Riverview only to be pipped in two tight sets (6-4,6-4) by their British counterparts. This was Olwyn's first ever ITF event and both girls are still only under 16. Well done to you both from everybody at Munster tennis.

MUNSTER PERFORMANCE PLAYER REACHES ITF DOUBLES FINAL!!!

Fantastic news coming through from Dublin as Munster performance player Olwyn Ryan Bovey and partner Anna O Farrell (Leinster) have reached the final of the doubles event at the International Tennis Federation event in David Lloyd. Beating the number 4 seeds along the way the girls won their semi final today 6-1,6-4 against Alicja Formella from Poland and USA's Anna Kalabukhova.
All ITF events are under 18 which makes it even more of an achievement for the girls as they are under 16 and under 15. The girls along with Ammar Elamin who is also in a doubles final are Ireland's only representatives left in the competition and we are sure they will do their provinces and country proud tomorrow.
Best of luck to the girls who will take on Alicia Dudeney and Grace Emma Eland of Great Britain and also to Amman in his doubles final.
Best of luck from all at Munster tennis.

Pictured with our Munster performance team is former world number 7 in singles and world number 1 in doubles, Roberta Vinci. As well as the above Roberta reached the 2015 US Open final beating none other than Serena Williams along the way. She has also won the Fed cup for Italy. It was fantastic for our players to meet such a star of our game. Roberta was absolutely tremendous with the kids, signing autographs and posing for hundreds of photos. She is now an adopted Munster woman and we are working on her for Interpros 2018. Another fantastic experience for the Munster performance team.
