I am Carla Gouws, and this is my story...
I am a student on NWU-Pukke. I study Nursing which I know is my God given purpose and in my spare time I design, cut and sew.
I started needlework at the end of my matric year in 2021, but only took it to a serious level at the beginning of my university journey, where I aspired to make my own formal dress with the little knowledge I had.
My mother almost fell off her chair when I randomly called to ask which sewing machine is the best to buy, to eventually make my very first dress. So long story short I bought my very first sewing machine with my own money that I saved and I made my dress, which was a success giving the compliments I got.
Not long after one of my friends, Samantha, asked if I can make her wedding dress! I sat in awe in the car at Checkers, as I couldn't believe what I just heard. What a privilege!
Soon the news spread like a wildfire and I was taking in orders left, right and centre up to a point where I decided to make it my part-time business. I can only thank God for the talent and opportunities that He blessed me beyond measure with.
