Excellent article from Rescued By Training for pet owners whose dogs are showing possible signs of separation anxiety when they previously were okay when home alone.

Enrichment isn't optional. It's not a nice, extra thing we should be doing for our animals - it's a critical part of their well-being, health and happiness.
Enrichment is ensuring we are meeting all of a species needs.
This is not optional.
Gracie, Ginger’s house mate, has also been a huge help in Ginger’s training sessions. Ginger feels more comfortable when Gracie is there too. Gracie likes her payment in food. 💕
Here’s a happy Ginger anticipating her chicken while working on going out front which she’s been afraid to do since her pet parents brought her home. My first time meeting her she ran to the back door when her owners approached the gate. A few visits later she’s galloping over to come out the gate. She always has the choice to come out or go back in. We’re slowly building up confidence on how far she ventures out and on making positive associations with any environmental changes. Her parents are doing a stellar job. It take a lot of empathy and patience working on fear. She’s a lucky girl to have them!
Georgia running over to greet me with a ball almost the same size as her 😆💕. Not only is she strong but she’s a smarty and a love bug too. Always a joy seeing her.
There are many types of carriers but the kennel-type with the front loading door is my recommendation. It can make it easier on your cat during veterinary exams.
“Be proactive instead of reactive. Set your dog up for success by giving him appropriate toys before he starts inappropriate biting.”
How To Stop Puppy Biting Did you know that puppy biting and mouthing is completely normal dog behavior? Puppies explore their worlds with their mouths. Read more about what to do and what not to do.
What a great dog this boy is! He is such a cutie and he’s got the brains to match. His parents have done excellent with his leash walking skills. Today Jamie started doing automatic check-ins and slowing down on his own if he was reaching the end of the leash. He loves his payment of chicken of course! 😋 Great job Jamie and family! ❤️

There are many emotions we feel after losing a pet or after learning they are terminally ill, including guilt. It’s a normal part of grieving. After saying goodbye to Nevaeh I couldn’t stop running the last 24hrs with her through my head. She declined rapidly and I had a lot of “what if” and “should I have” thoughts. Calling her oncologist to ask questions about those final hours was very helpful and I’ll be forever grateful she took the time to talk with me. Her oncologist also recommended, Lap of Love for their online pet loss support group. There’s a link for the group in the article below and they have an anticipatory grief support group too. It can help to say the chatter stuck on reply in your head out loud with others who understand. They also share ways to help you on your journey with grief.
Not everyone has the time or desire to train their dog and that's okay! I can get behaviors up and running while you're home taking care of other tasks, at work, running errands, or out with friends. This works for many behavioral needs and the best part, no homework! Ask me about day training for your dog today.
Here is some of what Freckles worked on in day training. He's working hard and we are both having a blast!

Another great one from Rescued By Training!
This is a PSA for all guardians of fearful dogs, reactive dogs, dogs in training, and dogs still navigating their new surroundings: You do not have to entertain negotiations from "dog people" who won't take no for an answer when it comes to interacting with your dog.

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I’m returning to taking new clients after some time away. My dog, Nevaeh, was diagnosed with cancer in the spring and I wanted to spend as much time with her as I could. We had to say goodbye in the fall. Between her diagnosis and passing we also lost our bunny, Sam. Anyone who has experienced loss knows how tough it is and my heart goes out to all of you.
The thought of working with other dogs stung for a bit and I’ll admit, it still makes me a little sad. I got into training because of Nevaeh. She was a lovely mess when I adopted her and helping her through her fears brought us incredibly close. She also loved to learn new things, so we were always working on something. Even though I’m sad, helping other dogs also makes me happy, and if Nevaeh could understand I know that’s what she’d want too.
Congratulations to Lili Chin of Doggie Drawings by Lili Chin on the publication today of this gorgeous book, Kitty Language. If you want to know what your cat is thinking, this book is a great resource and the illustrations are adorable.
What a happy pup! Norbert is a fantastic dog. He didn’t get a ton of socialization as a puppy because it was the start of the pandemic. He ended up having some stranger fears once people started coming around again. He has done so amazing at overcoming that and enjoying to meet people. His pet parents have also done a wonderful job with management, training so that people predict good things, and making sure he feels safe. What a team they are! ❤️❤️❤️
Another puppy skills grad!! 🎓 Bob has been working hard on his new skills. His owner is especially proud of how quickly Bob learned to hold a sit while he set his food bowl down. Not an easy task for an always hungry lab. 😂 Congrats Bob! 🎉
Luna did an excellent job with her puppy skills and was super cute learning them. Girls got style! Congratulations to Luna and her mama!! Luna’s human brother also did fantastic learning petting consent tests and helping train. Congrats all around! ❤️🎓👏
Another puppy skill’s graduate! 🎓 She decided to try out a new pose for the camera. 😆 Mags is such a smart and lovable pup. Congratulations Mags and Cari! 👏
Nevaeh got to spend some time with the trainer (and since friend of mine), Gayle, that we used 9yrs ago when I brought Nevaeh home. Nevaeh had quite a few issues when I adopted her and I would have been lost without Gayle’s help. Both Gayle and Nevaeh taught me so much and I wouldn’t be where I was today without them. Learning how to help Neveah inspired me to become a trainer and help others. 🥰

I had to say goodbye to another wonderful day training client. Cash did brilliantly over our 3 weeks together. 🙌 He learned all his puppy skills and then some. 🎓 Congratulations Cash! ❤️
Congratulations to Diesel on completing puppy skills! 👏 He also learned extra skills during our time together with day training. I already miss spending 3 days a week with this little cutie. ❤️
Buddy is a happy go lucky jumpy kinda guy. We are working on reducing the jumpy so guests can visit without getting pummeled. Training with treats and making it fun is keeping the happy go lucky. 🥰 We always want dogs to enjoy learning and Buddy certainly is! 🐾
Wallaby is Panda’s brother. 😍 He’s such a sweet and happy guy. He’s working hard on learning new skills too. He enjoys taking study breaks to get some pets and rest. 💕
Panda (I know perfect name 🐼) is loving learning a down stay. We think she’s thinking, “Really, I just gotta lay here and you’ll feed me treats? Okay, I got this all day!”.
She’s so smart and sweet! ❤️
Hi, I am Jean Donaldson of The Academy for Dog Trainers! I’m a cross-over trainer, which means I used to train using pain and intimidation but found out there was a way to train without that stuff and never looked back. It works *so* well.
The Academy is on Facebook and Instagram at https://www.facebook.com/AcademyforDogTrainers and https://www.instagram.com/academy4dogtrainers/.
I would like to give a shout out to my colleagues on The Academy staff, Kristi Benson, Kelly Duggan, Casey McGee, Sarah Pennington and Claudine Prud'homme. I have worked with some amazing people but this crew is so smart, compassionate and talented it’s off the charts.
My dog Brian is pretty much the center of the universe. Can you even handle the cute here?
My favorite dog training tip is to gladly and gleefully use plenty of food. This is spectacularly unpacked in Zazie Todd’s blog post here: https://www.companionanimalpsychology.com/2017/04/the-ultimate-dog-training-tip.html
Congratulations to Sully for graduating puppy skills! 🎓 Didn’t he do the perfect pose for his photo? 😍 Such a cutie and he’s a super sweet, bright pup. Great job Sully and his amazing family! 🎉👏💕
Congratulations Lucy on graduating puppy skills today! 🎉 Lucy’s family has done a stellar job teaching her life skills and Lucy is a happy and confident pup! 👏 She is also adorable. 💕
Sully 😍. He’s a super sweet puppy learning that the world is a great place. He’s also a bright little (well, not so little) boy with a great family!
