Tomorrow we play Edenhall Cricket Club away.
Both teams in the top 3 of the current league positions, should be a belter.

There was no scheduled 1st team fixture last weekend so the opportunity was taken to develop our junior section.
A mixture of under 13s, parents and 1st team players formed 2 teams, Thunder (captained by Mike Swindle and Theo Bellas) and Lightning (captained by Darren and Dexter Lightburn), to play a development T20 fixture.

It was a great opportunity to see the future players of our club play alongside current senior players and give them a taste of senior cricket, they will all be eligible to play senior cricket next year.

We will hopefully be adding a game like this each month next season or looking into playing friendlies against other clubs. The future is certainly looking very promising.

Our Golf Day was a huge success and we have raised significant funds towards the club and a defibrillator.
Thanks must go Appleby Golf Club. The course was in superb condition and their hospitality was just as good.
To all the players who participated, thanks for supporting the golf day and being so generous with buying raffle tickets and we will hopefully see you next year!
To all the club member who helped organise the day, finding sponsors for the tees, donating prizes for the raffle and supporting on the day.

Fantastic to welcome down 10 women and girls down to the club tonight to start the coaching for our new women’s and girls section. Lots of fun and impressive skills on show, despite the weather. It would be great if we can welcome more down next Monday from 7 to 8pm.

The curtain came down on our t10 Blast tournament last night.
Well done to Nunwick Lions becoming the inaugural winners. Certainly well-deserved and they also had the leading run scorer (Paul Booker) and wicket taker (Jack Metcalf), throughout the whole event.
Thanks to all the teams who contributed to what we feel has been a major success.
A huge amount of effort went into the organising and running of this event and we are certainly will be running it next season.
It was great to receive such positive feedback, especially from the teams saying it has been a great way to get people playing again and contributing - this was the whole idea of the event.
We now turn our attention to our next event which we will be announcing in the next few days!

The Blast Final

We have finals night on Friday for the t10 Blast event we have hosted over the last 6 weeks. Games start at 6pm sharp.

At the start of the season, we were very lucky to have QTS Group down to help the club get the pavilion and the ground ready. They helped repaint the interior of the whole pavilion, repaired the perimeter fence, added exterior lighting and painted and repaired the picnic benches. It certainly was a great help, done to the highest quality and saved us so much time to concentrate on other jobs. Your work was greatly appreciated!

Not the results we wanted but it’s great to see the club continuing to grow and the juniors developing. We’ve got another busy week ahead: we are hosting the village school’s Kwik-Cricket tournament on Wednesday, U11 and U13 training, The Blast starts this Thursday, which we are excited about and the U13s at home on Friday.

Thanks to everyone who attended and supported our quiz night yesterday, we had a great evening and massively appreciate you coming along.

Although we got the win yesterday against Carlisle 3rds, the real winner was the game of cricket. Carlisle turned up with a very youthful team. Credit must go to them as they bowled superbly, caught some brilliant catches, encouraged each other and batted well. For some of them, it was their first game of senior cricket.
We know the value of giving the juniors an opportunity to play and Carlisle CC have some exciting prospects.

Great game against Braithwaite Cricket Club yesterday in glorious weather at The Thunderdome.

Temple Sowerby Cricket Club won the toss and put Braithwaite in to bat making 184-8 with a battling team effort.
In return, we chased down their total finishing 186-6 off 38.1 overs.
3 wins out of 3 is a fantastic start to the season.

Not long until our first home game of the season against Braithwaite on Saturday. A considerable amount of time and effort has gone into the square of the last couple of months and it has certainly paid off. The ground, square and wicket are looking in great shape. After yesterday’s close victory against Nunwick CC for the 1st XI, our Under 11 side get their campaign off to a start against Caldbeck CC. It’s great to have junior cricket back after quite a few years without it. Refreshments available if you fancy popping along to support the team. Bails pitched at 10:00.

With the start off the season only 10 days away we’re looking forward to getting going in 2023.
