Hello Leesburg!! We'll be here a few weeks!!
We have had great gas mileage this trip! We have traveled from Tennessee to North Carolina to Georgia and averaged over 13 mpgs!! Diesel F350 dually with 2023 1150 Arctic Fox!
We made it to Jesse and Jacob's house!!
Checked in for the evening. Nice lake park. Next stop Brunswick, GA to spend the week with Jesse and Jacob!
Getting ready to head out in the morning! Next stop Brunswick, GA to see our other daughter and son in law for Thanksgiving!
Happy Day all. Photos from my am walk near Pelican point Rv park aboard Marine Air Station Cherry Point .
Today we made it to Havelock, NC!! We will be here for 2 weeks visiting our grandson, and our daughter and son in law!! Nice to be around family!! We had a fun evening at the sports bar on the base eating and playing pool.
We left "home" on Tuesday to head East. We scooted across the bottom of Tennessee and North Carolina. We stopped over each night, not taking the camper off the truck so we could quickly leave the next morning for the next stop. On Friday we arrived at Jordan Lake, south of Apex, NC for our very first truck camper rally. There were probably 50 truck campers in attendance, almost 100 people. We ate, fellowshipped, played Bingo and had a very informative " town hall" type meeting where the techs answered questions that people had. It was a great time, a little cold but we had warm things to wear.
Home! Until our next adventure, starting next week!! We sure were busy the last 2 months!! You know you’re in the south when you start to see cotton fields !
Today we headed back into the city on the Metro again. Jumped off at the stop closest to the arch. We could easily walk it. There’s a nice museum underground as you enter the visitor’s center. We headed to our arch tour first. Getting into our little pod and being transported to the top took 4 minutes up and 3 minutes down.
Once we came down from the arch we looked around the museum until it was time to watch the movie about how it was built.
When the movie was over we headed outside to meet up with some friends from when we lived in Japan. It was good to see them again. Every time we come through St. Louis, we connect with them. After our lunch date, they took us to the Metro station and we headed back to the base.
We braved the St. Louis Metro System!
We hopped on the train from the base and headed into the city. We got off the train at the civic center station. Then we got directions on how to get to the Anheuser-Busch Brewery/Visitors Center. So we hopped on a bus and road it to our stop right in front of the Visitors Center.
This is one of the most fascinating places! High on my list! It takes an hour and a half to go on the tour. The architecture is beautiful, all original in the older buildings. The older buildings are on the National Historical Register. The barn is round with the stalls on the outer walls. The center area has a chandelier from the St. Louis World’s Fair (1904). The brewing house has 2 more large rod-iron light fixtures from the fair also.
Today was moving day. Traffic was very easy going. One wreck in St. Louis, but we bypassed it. We will be here 5 days seeing sights and friends.
Today we checked out Knoxville, IA. When I made reservations, I had no idea what would be here to see! We were pleasantly surprised to find a couple of little gems in the area.
We drove around town and looked around, then we went to the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum. We were given a VIP tour from one of the museum coordinators. He showed us some suites that the big fans/sponsors/owners use to watch the races. The people lease them year after year. We looked at two of them, very cool! One of the suites is leased to the Casey’s convenient store owner! So many Sprint cars displayed in the museum. It was a great find! We want to come back and watch a race during the summer.
Next we headed to the town of Pella (just like the window/door company…because that’s where there plant is!) It is set up like a Dutch town. We want to come back and see more!
Travel day!! Long day..took 1 1/5 hours longer than it projected!
Meatloaf, onion strings and loaded potato soup. At Mrs. D
Well that 10 days flew by!!
We had a great time visiting with family and friends!! See you all in a couple of years, you are already in our plans!❤️
Until next time, you can keep following us on our wild adventures!
Today we went to The Leaf and to the English Garden. The Leaf is a huge inside garden. The English Garden is a huge outdoor garden.
The weather wasn’t as cold today, so it was a good day to be outside.
We had a great trip to the museum today! It was all about the Manitoba area, the indigenous people and how the area established the fur trade with the rest of the world. The full size replica of the Nonsuch ship.
🇨🇦Happy Thanksgiving🇨🇦
We had a good turn out, lots and lots of food. After we stuffed ourselves, we took the traditional beach walk down the boardwalk around the lagoon and back to the cottage. It wasn’t as cold and windy today.
Yesterday we headed out to Grand Beach. The family has a cottage out there and that is where they spend thanksgiving most years. 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦
House camping in Canada!!
Today we travel to Grand Beach to get ready for our celebration on Sunday !!
We had a great tour at the mint today! It was very interesting learning how coins were made. Then we went to the center of Canada, which happens to be right outside of Winnipeg.
Yesterday we went to this really nice museum and then we went to The Forks for some lunch. We got some good pictures of downtown Winnipeg.
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦 !
Our 6 hour drive was uneventful (which we like!). We did not come up the interstate, but a highway (59). Not very many people driving this way, everyone headed south! We will be here a week and have already made plans to see many different places. The dirt up this way is so dark and rich. They had just finished harvesting the wheat and most of the corn.
Farther north!! We arrived yesterday around 1:00. We set up, then we took advantage of the free laundry! We looked around the base while our laundry was doing its thing. Weather is nice, wearing shorts. Tomorrow we head up to Winnipeg, Canada to spend time with family and celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving (Oct 7). We will be at the cabin on Grand Beach celebrating on the 9th! We are leaving the camper at the base for safe keeping. The campground sits on the bank of the Mississippi River, but there are no site along its banks. Enjoying the day at the site with a fire and reading a book.
Last day! Tomorrow is moving day. Heading farther north towards our final destination … Fort Ripley, MN. From there we will leave our camper and drive into Winnipeg, Canada!
Today was a super cool adventure !!
The airport in granite falls has a privately owned WWII museum. It is amazing and I don’t really like war stuff. Ever airplane in this exhibit are all vintage airplanes that work and they take them out for flights frequently. When we got there, there was someone taking one of the planes up!
Today they had a presentation on the P51 Mustang. They told all about it, then a pilot took it up and did some acrobatic flying. It was so cool! There were probably 50 people there.
I will post videos in another post.
Roamed around Granite Falls this afternoon and evening. We had a great time walking around and looking at the quaint town . We went back to the American Legion to play bingo!! We didn’t win but it was fun!!
Granite Falls, MN a little farther north!
There is a casino here also! The food was not good, I couldn’t eat mine! We both got $5 cash on our card so we played the penny slots. Won a tiny bit but used it up.
We had a great ride up, hardly any traffic. I think this time of year everyone is headed south! The leaves are changing all over the place!! I love the fall!!
There’s a few things to check out in Granite falls in the next few days.
Last evening here in Western Iowa. Heading farther north!! Chilly, enjoying a fire!!
Today we visited a few places in Omaha.
We took a walk on the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge, explored The Durham Museum and finished it off at Bronco’s Burgers!
One of the interesting things I saw at the museum, was the mention of the blizzard and tornado that I vividly remember in 1975. We lived south of Omaha and experienced the blizzard but not the terrible tornado.
Today we took a trolly ride all over Council Bluffs, IA. They were having a special tour day. $10 for both of us seeing 5 different places.
Today we went to the SAC Museum, another space/airplane/military museum.
A little walk down memory lane!
My dad was stationed at Offutt AFB Bellevue, NE when I was in elementary school and started middle school. It was interesting driving around and seeing the houses we lived in. The house my folks bought was still there along with 3 of my schools I attended. The house in base housing was gone and nothing looked the same.
And for lunch, as highly suggested by two people, we ate at Runza! Stuffed sandwiches were sooooo good!!
Today was a travel day!
We are now in Iowa, right across the river from Omaha, NE. We will be here a week. 5.5 years of my life was spent here when I was in elementary and middle school. My dad was stationed at Offutt AFB.
Wedding time!! So good to see family!!
