BREAKING: Logging has been halted for a third day in a row in Ellis State Forest. Around midday a group of approximately 20 people have walked into the forest, forcing a halt to logging operations. The contractors have now gone home for the day.

A spokes person for the group Ruby Oliver-King says “It is well past the time to be tolerating this destructive and shameful industry any longer. We are in a climate crisis, and an extinction crisis with no time to lose. Forestry Corporation must end all native forest logging operations from now and forever. Victoria and WA have made commitments, it’s time NSW followed suit. The science is clear. There is no future with native forest logging, so just get on with it and end it now or continue to be met with organised community resistance.”

With wet weather predicted on the radar and the promise of more community action, this Gumbaynggirr forest will not be logged without major delays.
