Hey there! I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist is Brooklyn and Manhattan. I work with clients in person and virtually.

Dropping this on the grid because so many of you resonated with it. I was unwell last week - mentally, physically, spiritually and part of me knew what was causing it but the other part felt like it was going to last forever.

You can do all of the things to keep yourself grounded and sometimes hormones, overwhelm and being a human will just grab you. Trust me, I wish there was a magic bullet to prevent you from never feeling out of your mind but that’s just not life. Life gets lifey sometimes and fortunately it passes.

If you’re feeling 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 I’m sending you a hug and reminding you that it will pass. Take care of yourself the best you can, talk to someone about it and just hang in there.

I had to get on the Snoop trend, it’s just too good.

Guys, please don’t get your nutrition advice from a rando online, your trainer or your mom. We dietitians go to years of schooling to learn nutrition and for some reason everyone thinks they’re an expert on food when they’re not ❤️

- put fresh fruit on your toast, it’s delicious ♥️

I hope you have a really lovely week and eat yummy foods that nourish you mind, body and spirit.

I hope you’re having a restful weekend ☀️ this is my suggestion to take leftover pasta, pair it with greens and fresh mozz and call it a day.

PS. This is hands down my favorite pasta shape, what’s yours?

🍓shake recipe:
* I don’t really measure ingredients so this are estimations. Just like I tell my clients, taste things as you go bc my taste preferences are different from yours 💖

Serves 1:
- 1 cup liquid of choice. I used unsweetened cashew milk
- 1 tbsp. Tahini
- handful frozen 🍓
- 2 tbsp. Ground flax seed
- half a 🍌
- 1 scoop protein powder (I like collagen bc there’s no taste)
- pinch of salt

This shake is full of fat, fiber, protein and tons of vitamins/minerals. Did you know tahini was a good source of calcium?!

Enjoy friends!

Dinner in less than 30 min 👌👌recipe ⬇️
This one checks all the boxes - protein, starch, healthy fats, lots of veggies, even a fermented food 🔥

1. Make your favorite rice or grain. I use my rice cooker and cooked basmati rice in bone broth for extra flavor and protein but you do you.

2. While your rice cooks, season white fish with your favorite spices. I used a blackened seafood blend from and then added sliced jalapeño

3. I wrapped the fish in foil and put it on the grill for 10 min. You could put it in the oven at 400 for the same amount of time

4. While the fish cooks throw some sliced cabbage, carrots, red bell pepper and cilantro in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, squeeze 1/2 🍋‍🟩, add a few dollars of Greek yogurt and season with salt - mix it well. You could also buy a precut bag of cole slaw mix instead of chopping everything.

5. Put the rice, fish and slaw in a bowl - top with pickled onions (or not) and 🥑 and you’re good to go ⚡️

If you want more recipes like this, drop a 🔥 in the comments! Enjoy 😎

Leftovers are everything!!!

The easiest way to “meal prep” is to just make sure you double or triple what you’re making for dinner that way you have leftovers for a quick lunch.

I’ve ran my virtual meal prep and planning webinar probably 20 times now for different companies and attendees always appreciate the permission to stop meal prepping days worth of one recipe on a Sunday. I think that works for some people but for many they’re bored and grossed out by day 4 of the same meal.

Reason number 1837464729 why we should stop labeling food behaviors. Maybe instead of being a hardcore meal prepper you’re just someone who preps some leftovers 😎

Can I tell you an insider secret?

📣 most people do not *love* their bodies. Many people feel negative or neutral thoughts about their bodies and they still:

⚡️find the love of their life
⚡️travel to a bucket list destination
⚡️succeed in their profession
⚡️have solid friendships
⚡️start dating
⚡️start a family

You do not need to love your body (or even like your body) in order to do whatever it is you want to do with your one precious life.

I know it may feel like you have to be body positive or love your body to live “well” but you truly do not. You don’t need to think about your body at all if you don’t want to!

This may seem crazy. Maybe you don’t believe that you could start dating because the photos or maybe the idea of traveling seems insane because you’d have no control around food - I get it, I work with women on these fears every day.

🙏This is why I’m teaming up with to start a body image group for women because it’s time to start LIVING. You could wait until those “last 10 #” come off to do the things you want to do or you could begin to learn how to improve your body image so that you can live, TODAY.

⚡️We only have a few spots left for the group and it’s starting in less than 2 weeks!! All of the details are at the link in my bio or DM me and we can set up a time to chat

Here’s something you might not want to hear but need to hear:

Body image has very little to do with your actual body….

Losing those “last 5, 10, 20 pounds” probably won’t bring you all the promises you think they will bring. I think somewhere deep down you know this friend. Maybe it’s because you have someone in your life who has successfully lost those pounds and they’re still kind of mis or maybe you lost them years ago only for them to come back - plaguing you.

The way we see and experience our bodies is wrapped up in so many variables and examining the different influences on our body is way more productive and meaningful than stepping on the scale every day if you want to improve your body image.

and I are creating a space to do exactly this. At the end of the month, we’re starting our body image group for women. This will be a space to explore your body image and what has affected it alongside other women who get it.

Head to the link in my bio to learn more or DM me to ask questions / see if this group is right for you

I know buying new clothes sucks and it’s one reason why I am so excited for the new body image group I am co-leading with - imagine having a space where you can talk about things like letting go of those old jeans with other women who get it.

Imagine the brain space you would have at work or with your friends or on date night if you weren’t worried about the dig of your waistband.

How empowering to buy clothes that fit!! To make decisions for your health and well-being that have nothing to do with a size and everything to do with supporting your physical, mental and spiritual health. You deserve clothes that fit.

If you want a space where you can begin to explore body image and how to change yours, tap the link in my bio to schedule a call 💖

I just got off of a very emotional session with a client where she kept saying, “food is so fu***ng hard”.

Food is SO hard. I often hear “omg Sydney I feel like a child, why can’t I just eat like other people or why do I need your help buying groceries”?

If you grew up in a home where no one ate consistently, no one cooked, someone frequently commented on their own body or other peoples bodies; if you grew up with divorced parents or addiction or a house full of rage - food is going to feel complicated.

How are you supposed to know how to eat or cook or feel neutral about food if that wasn’t modeled for you? If dinner time was chaos (dinner time for me was constant fighting between my parents) then of course, you’re going to want to check out or get through dinner as fast as possible.

Sometimes it’s about the food and often, it really isn’t.

You can definitely take steps to make food feel less overwhelming and complicated on your own but many times, professional support can speed up the healing process. You do not have to do it alone 💖

It’s national registered dietitian day 😎💖 I loooove the work that I get to do and the humans I get to support!

Happy RDN day to all of my fellow dietitians. May the world stop spelling our title “dietician” or calling us “nutritionalists”, respect that we’re the only professional group that can legally be prescribe nutrition interventions, and honor that nutrition has a huge role in every facet of someone’s health - mind, body, spirit.

I hope that as a profession we can continue to evolve, get curious, open our minds and show up to the topic of food with a ton of integrity, intention and less of our own biases. 💖💖

Friends, pleaseeeeee get some staples and have them at home. I promise, having food in the fridge and maybe wasting it (I know, I hate waste but I hate seeing you not eat and worry/ruminate about food more) is way better than the anxiety I know you get by ordering night after night of takeout or just like scrounging together odd meals.

I help my clients do mini shops before travel so they can nourish themselves well. We optimize frozen items and pantry items and get smart about how much produce/perishable items are bought. 8 times out of 10 you can always freeze stuff if you’re worried about waste.

Pleeeease don’t screw yourself by falling for the “I’m traveling soon trap”.

I’m always accepting new clients, hit the link in my bio to schedule a call 💖

📣📣New Offering Alert

Have you ever wish someone said to you, dude please add another piece of toast to your plate or hey - I think we need some more protein here? What if you had someone to nudge you if they saw you skipped lunch or restricted fat from your meal?

I want to be in your pocket with you, cheering you on and making sure you’re nourishing yourself. Think of this as the opposite type of commentary you used to get from your almond mom. Instead of telling you what to eat or how to limit yourself, I want to make sure you’re eating enough, enjoying yourself and sticking to your intention of taking care of yourself.

Enter: Virtual Meal Support 💖💖 an affordable, high touch support from a registered dietitian in your pocket so that you never find yourself questioning what to eat again.

This is for you if you feel like working with a dietitian would be helpful but you’re in a tight budget or if you’ve worked with me in the past and could use some support/accountability but feel like you don’t need 1:1 sessions.

I’m soo excited about this offering and hope I’m able to support and reach way more people with it. If you’re curious how it works, let’s discuss! You can get in touch in these ways:
✅send me a DM
✅book a free call through the link in my bio or
✅click virtual meal planning in that same link.

I’ve been feeling super pi**ed lately. Pi**ed that so many people profit off of women’s insecurities. Insecurities that were installed by media and marketing and the patriarchy and white supremacy.

I hate that every other Instagram post is trying to sell something. Maybe it’s trying to sell a new product or a new diet but also, soooooo many posts are trying to sell a new program designed to help you heal. Heal from the gut issues, heal from disordered eating, heal from _____. Healing isn’t done in 12 weeks. Healing is done little by slowly, one hour, one minute, one day at a time.

It’s done in the hours when you’re by yourself and you choose to take an action that is uncomfortable and unfamiliar. It’s when you’re by yourself and you choose to donate the old jeans and buy yourself a new pair in a new size. It’s the moving through those icky feelings and then putting the pants on and actually feeling a bit better. No one can sell you that.

Our bodies are so smart, they’re so much smarter than us. Your body doesn’t care if you look snatched in your workout set. Your body wants you to function, to show up to this life. I know that’s so easy to say and so hard to embody but it’s true.

I’m not sure how to package this little rant into a little bow so I’ll leave it here. Tell me, are you pi**ed too?

Joanne Swanson is an incredible human and real estate broker. I have known Joanne for over six years and she has not only helped me think through home buying versus renting but she has helped me in many ways professionally. Joanne is incredibly warm and caring but she is also super quick, intelligent and is a great person to help you work through hard decisions - the exact type of person you want by your side when purchasing your next home or investment property.

I’ve always been a noodle > rice gal until living with Liz. It’s always so interesting how are tastes and preferences change when entering a relationship. This is Liz’s favorite meal and it takes 15 minutes to make. Recipe ⬇️

1. Preheat oven to 425. While the oven heats marinate your salmon. I mixed Dijon mustard, miso, soy sauce and a little bbq sauce. Once preheated cook for 14 minutes
2. Chop your favorite veggies. I did cucumber, scallion, avocado and heated up frozen edamame (not technically a veg but whatever)
3. Heat up your rice. I love my rice cooker but you could do stove top or a microwaveable packet
4. Top with sesame seeds and more soy sauce

Tell me are you team noodle or team rice?!

Hey babes, just a reminder that you can start anything you want to, TODAY. No need to push anything off until January 1st. If you have the motivation or desire to do something, take advantage of that spark and just do it. In my personal experience and experience working with hundreds of clients, windows of willingness are fleeting so take advantage of the willingness to do something when it comes.

Saying screw you to New Year’s resolutions is such a power move 😏🕺💖

Intuitive eating might not work for you if:
- you are in recovery from substance use
- you have GI issues
- you work overnights
- you don’t work with a therapist and/or a dietitian
- you take medications like adderall or Vyvanse
- you smoke a lot of w**d
- you have a trauma history
- your sleep is disregulated
- you’re still weighing yourself everyday
- you have a to a desire to lose weight
- you have been dieting for years

Have I made my point? I love intuitive eating and use it with many clients AND it doesn’t work for everyone, it’s not meant to. Just like there are so many different therapy modalities, there are so many modalities to heal your relationship with food. I have clients who thrive in their recovery from eating disorders or disordered eating who love using the plate method. Some still use a meal plan. Many practice mindful eating. Some need and love having a solid structure to their meals. It’s also incredibly hard to be intuitive if you have dieted your whole life and so it might take many using a few different models before you can get to being an intuitive eater.

There are many ways to heal 💖

Can we do a thought experiment?

Someone has a BMI in the “normal” category but they report skipping meals, weighing themselves 3x a day, drinking 10+ alcoholic drinks a week, feelings of isolation, and exercising while experiencing 8/10 back pain.

Person #2 has a BMI in the “obese” category but they report consuming less than 6 drinks/week, eating 3 meals and snacks many of which are homemade, engaging in weight lifting, yoga and walking, sleeping 7-8/hours a night and having a robust and fulfilling social life

This is why BMI sucks. It tells us nothing and it is mainly used as a data point for insurance. Please please work with someone who put BMI on the back burner and knows that what is most important is your lifestyle and day to day behaviors.
