MY SUMMER CAMPS AFRICAN MUSIC WORKSHOPS

I did an African traditional percussive instruments workshops in Grafton and Mequon summer camps today. I played the Ekonting, the Sabar drums, the Bougarabou drums, the Kalimba, the Kotiro drums, the Balafon, the Tama (talking drum), the Djembe drum, the Talang bells and the Gankogui bells. They learned about Africa in general, about the cultural backgroung of each instrument, they tried them all out then we all played drums and bells while chanting simple african chants. These kids loved it. I have been doing this in those camps for the past few years now. Wish l could do more of this in summer schools/camps everwhere. These photos are from 2 years ago. I did not have any taken today.
