Black kitchens are everything but here are 3 things that are none negotiable when designing an open kitchen in a compact space: 1. Maximize smart storage, make sure everything has its place as you choose the layout of your cabinetry or drawers and place organizer inside. 2. Think about confort when choosing furnishing and lighting, the ambiance is as important as what’s necessary to execute your tasks in that space, and when choosing your chairs or stools ask yourself: “Could I seat in this for hours?” And last but not least: Design it like your mean it! Don’t be shy make a statement with an interesting color palette and beautiful finishes, remember, it is open and it will be the center of action when entertaining.

Born and raised in France, Claire moved to the United States when she was 20 years old to follow her studies in interior architecture and design. In 2018, she founded CAJ Studio NYC, an interior design firm that focuses on creating transcendent elevated cultural spaces. The studio expanded into a second location in Bordeaux three years later. Claire’s bicultural heritage and her access to the European and North Africa artisanal design platform gives her unique and vibrant inspiration for each project she leads.
