Hey Greensboro North Carolina, Anna Bell is back in stock!
Thanks again to Kitty Sydnor, we have a beautiful wine and Anna Bell tasting this week at her gorgeous store, Watkins Sydnor in Greensboro North Carolina.
Greensboro NC is an hour from South Boston Virginia where I grew up cooking with Anna Bell.
When I came along, Anna Bell’s home was in the town South Boston on a couple of acres. On that property, she raised a small amount of livestock and vegetables.
Previously, her and husband Papa, had a large farm in Halifax county that encompasses South Boston.
Kitty’s customers are amazing! They walked out of the store with 2, 3, 4 and more pans of Anna Bell, plus other beautiful items from Kitty’s store.
Kitty’s customers were excited to share Anna Bell with their kids coming home from college, their neighbors and to have it for themselves.

Anna Bell’s Mac & Cheese
Growing up with my great-grandmother Anna Bell in South Boston, Virginia, I was blessed with her delicious, made from scratch, southern mac n cheese. I watched her source local, fresh ingredients to deliver mouthwatering goodness every time.
It took years and an old battered recipe to emulate the flavors in her dish. I couldn’t match her local cheeses but I spent 15 years finding the right ingredients, including an English cheddar, that captures the woodsy smokiness of Anna Bell’s wood-oven baked mac and cheese. I married this with the best cream and milk from a local dairy to recreate the velvety, richness that her dish possessed. The result is each bite delivers tangy, luscious layers of noodles and cheesiness.
From Anna Bell’s table to yours, let this family recipe bless your family and deliver love to your holiday table.
