Happy New Year to all my customers past and present! It's going to be an exciting year for me as - after nearly 16 years - I've decided to close Hung & Drawn so that I can concentrate on my other career as a singer/musician. I had hoped to find someone who might want to take it over but curtain making and sewing in general seem to be a dying art! So, sadly, Hung & Drawn will be no more. I have a few windows to complete then I'm done (sorry, no new orders...)

I left a well-paid job in January 2007 to start my curtain business and had everything crossed that it would be a success which, fortunately, it was. A lot of that was down to the good people of Linlithgow who took a chance on a new business (after my other half flyered the entire town in September 2007!) I moved from spare room (8 years) to rented unit (4 years) then to a converted garage (3+ years), survived a recession and a pandemic. I've met some lovely people, made some new friends, and learnt more than I ever dreamed possible about window coverings! I had also hoped to have more time for gigs but that hasn't always worked out due to the time constraints and pressure of running my own business, so I need to do it now before I get too old and decrepit ;-) That ship may already be on its way out of harbour so I've got to go for it now!

Thank you to everyone who asked Hung & Drawn to make their new curtains and blinds over the years, and particularly to those who came back several times for different windows and even, in a few cases, different houses! I think it is a neat bookend that the last pair of curtains I made were for a lovely client who also happened to be the first one I made curtains for in 2007!

Apologies, but due to the high volume of work, I won't be able to fit in any more appointments before Christmas (apart from those already scheduled of course) Sorry!

I think some of us may have become a little confused about what is allowed and when (I know I am!) So, just to clarify: as of Monday 26th April, non-essential tradespeople (including curtain makers 😀) are allowed to visit clients’ homes again. Hung & Drawn is very much back in business and catching up on lockdown-delayed fittings while quoting for and booking new jobs. All systems go! However, a couple of people have told me that they left me a voicemail during lockdown, but I didn’t receive these for some reason. I’ve tested my phone line and all seems to be okay now, but if you did phone and leave me a message and I haven’t got back to you, please phone again, send me a message here or an email to [email protected]. Morning all! As I'm sure you know, as well as the exciting news about hairdressers reopening last week, from 26th April non-essential tradespeople will be allowed to visit clients' homes! This means that Hung & Drawn will be opening up for business again after a (quite enjoyable!) enforced holiday. My priority that week is to try to squeeze in all the curtain & blind fittings that had to be put on hold due to lockdown, but I also have a list of people who'd like to see me for new quotes and I'm now scheduling them in.
