Over the last few years, there's been more and more ALCA members with a background in occupational therapy! Not surprising, when we think about it - OTs take a holistic approach to supporting their clients - psychological, physical, emotional, and social make-up - in achieving their health and well-being goals! Happy !

Latest changes

ACL is proud to announce the release of the Older Americans Act final rule. The first substantial update to most OAA program regulations since 1988, the rule is the result of years of thoughtful collaboration with partners across the aging & disability networks. It aligns regulations to the current statute, addresses issues that have emerged since the last update, and clarifies a number of requirements. The rule will better support the national aging network in delivering OAA services and improve programs – and ultimately help to ensure that the nation's growing population of older adults can continue to receive the services and supports they need to live – and thrive – in their own homes and communities. So excited to share this news from our very own Liz Barlowe

I am thrilled to share that I have been invited to on the Professional Advisory Council (PAC) for the USF School of Aging Studies

The purpose of PAC is to advise the Director and faculty of regional and national trends that can help ensure the university's programs are responsive to the needs of the community. I am looking forward to working with other PAC members in a manner that enables us to bring forth , , and to enrich the programs of the School of Aging Studies at USF.

In addition, our very own Kelly Iceton is completing her graduate degree in the Aging Studies Department at USF. For her capstone, Kelly is designing a geriatric care management course, which the department plans to use in the future. She is very motivated to foster interest in the field of aging and specifically care management by showcasing the myriad ways care managers assist older adults. One goal of USF’s Aging Studies Department is to equip students with real-world skills to use after finishing the gerontology curriculum. Upon completion of her master’s degree, Kelly plans to join the Aging Studies Department as an adjunct professor to stay actively involved in educating students about care management.
