Summer is a hard time to get your pups out and about, make sure you teach them how to wear and walk in shoes!
-
Shoes are a great way to be able to still get your dog on walks and outdoor training without burning their paw pads.
-
I’ve been asked before “don’t shoes make your dog hotter because they sweat from their paws?” The answer is: yes, but they will be able to keep your dogs feet safe from 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Make walks and activities shorter during these hot days but be sure that your dogs are protected!

Slip lead placement matters! - Most dog training and walking is done on the left side of the body. Therefore, it’s important that any tool that applies pressure, especially slip leads, are put on properly. - For your dogs safety and results you want the slip lead to be able to tighten and release as you apply pressure and your dog responds to it (walking toward the pressure to release it). - Remember to always keep your slip lead or prong collar high and tight around the neck. Not tight enough to choke your dog but tight enough that it isn’t slipping down. - If you choose to train on the right side reverse this tip! - #dogtraining #balancedtraining #dogpsychology #puppytraining #doganxiety

Not my best video, trying to teach Buddha how to bow as part of his physical therapy! - Buddha is very used to go straight down from a standing position so he instinctively wants to do that. However, he’s doing a great job learning how so far! He can only hold himself up for a couple of seconds before getting tired. - I am using this to help him regain muscles and mobility in his lower back/legs. He is walking pretty well right now but struggles to hold himself up on his back legs while pooping, stretching, or shaking. It’s a long road to recovery but he’s really making amazing progress!
