From the National Training Center and Camp Pendleton, California, to White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, a platoon-size team of U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command multi-component Soldiers and civilians experimented with cutting-edge technologies in February and March during Project Convergence–Capstone 4.
PC-C4, a U.S. Army-hosted, joint and multinational experiment saw warfighters, from across the Department of Defense and invited nations, explore the future of warfighting communications, operations and maneuver. Though each participant is able to independently experiment or exercise with emerging technology, PC-C4 sought to test integration and adaptability of emerging technology to achieve a future operating environment of a combined, joint all-domain force set against realistic warfighting scenarios.
“We will be contested in the cyber and space domains, so we must prepare for this eventuality,” said Lt. Gen. Sean Gainey, USASMDC’s commanding general. “Integration and convergence in multidomain operations facilitates active campaigning and contributes to strategic deterrence through technology and tactics, techniques and procedures development, experimentation, exercises, engagements and operations from irregular warfare to large-scale combat operations. PC-C4 allows us to determine if and how our emerging space and high-altitude technology can support MDO through 2030 and beyond.”

The Army has officially started development of a new software that will automate the fires targeting process, giving commanders rapid data, situational awareness, and visualization to successfully deliver fires.
The software, known as Joint Targeting Integrated Command and Coordination Suite, or JTIC2S, will replace the Joint Automated Deep Operations Coordination System, JADOCS, and provide fires targeting capability and a joint fires targeting common operational pictures across forces.
Now in the engineering and manufacturing development phase, the Army will develop the software’s first iteration known as the minimum viable product, conduct testing in the field, incorporate Soldier feedback and then look to industry to further develop the software’s capabilities.
“Entering this phase of development is an exceptional achievement and a critical step to consolidating safety-critical fires software onto a single baseline,” said Col. Matthew Paul, project manager for Mission Command at Program Executive Office, Command, Control, Communications - Tactical, known as PEO C3T. “While JADOCS has served the Army well for more than 30 years, moving to JTIC2S will allow us to keep pace with the speed of technology, evolving Army priorities, and help us deliver a product that is effective for the warfighter.”

On , March 3, we observe the songs nations around the world have adopted and chosen to represent their national identity.
For America, that song is “The Star-Spangled Banner” and has a rich history to match the pomp and circumstance any national anthem should garner for the country it represents.
"The Star-Spangled Banner" started as a poem, called “The Defence of Fort McHenry.” It was written by Francis Scott Key in 1814, during the War of 1812. The stanz… See more

Building team and unit cohesion are keys to success within any organization, however, it is especially critical when conducting multi-domain operations. To achieve strategic objectives such as neutralizing enemy long-range systems or disintegrating an enemy’s anti-access/area-denial systems require an organization to develop leaders and practices that exercise effective communication and meticulous coordination.
The 4th Infantry Division staff conducted a combined staff development exercise and command post exercise at the Mission Training Complex at Fort Carson from February 12-14, 2024, to formulate comprehensive systems and processes across each command cell.

A chillaxing day at work!
Coast Guard Petty Officers/Divers Chuck Fox and Corey Smith, crewmembers aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star, are shown here securing a shaft seal leak on the cutter while in the freezing waters of McMurdo Sound, Antarctica on January 27, 2024. Coast Guard divers are an essential part of the mission because they conduct searches, recoveries, investigations, and underwater repairs.
The Coast Guard Diver rate (DV) is a competitive rate that is open to all enlisted members ranked at a E5 or above who have a variety of occupational roles. During the intense diving training, divers learn how to operate a variety of tools such as side scan sonar equipment, underwater remote-operated vehicles, metal detectors, and various exothermic (heat-releasing) cutting and hydraulic power tools.
They also learn how to tackle a wide range of missions, including weapons recovery, ship maintenance or repair in extreme conditions, and clearing obstructed waterways.
Applicant screenings occur as part of the Dive Candidate Screener program, which is a one-week selection process held at Training Center Cape May. From there, only five to ten applicants are selected to continue with dive training at the Navy Diver “A” School in Panama City, Florida.
