Librarians, Teachers, Readers, Friends and Family - I'm doing a book event for Ratty on the other side of the water and I'd love to see you. It's been four years since my last book and I'm super happy to introduce RATTY to the world. And I'm also super happy to share the evening with my dear friend, Lynn Brunelle.

I'm so happy to introduce you to the audio book narrator for RATTY. This is Vikas Adam and his adorable rescue dog, Emma. After listening to many other narrators, I was asked for my #1, #2, and #3 choices. I told the publisher that Vikas was my #1, #2 AND #3 choice. I wanted no one else. And we got him!
Thank you, Vikas, for bringing my characters to life. RATTY is almost here!

It's getting closer!

I love this photo so much! I wrote SMELLS LIKE DOG a hundred years ago and even though I think it's one of the best books I've written, it no longer gets the attention that Sasquatch Escape or We**ie and Gizmo get. So when a school does an ALL SCHOOL READ and I get to talk about this book again, it makes me so happy. Thank you to librarian extraordinaire, Lynne Charlot, for introducing Homer, Lorelei, Dog and Duke Rumpold Smeller to your students last week!

RATTY will publish June 18 and we have two local events planned with my writing buddy, Lynn Brunelle.

I've flown all over for school visits but this was definitely the farthest - Stuttgart, Germany! Thank you for hosting me, Carlen. Danke.

I'm on the road again, visiting schools and here's what I know to be true - librarians are having a really tough time right now, no matter which state they reside in. And this is what I also know to be true - every librarian I have met in my long career has been kind, dedicated and passionate about books. Thank you, thank you for what you do.

What a happy morning! I finally get to share the cover of my next middle grade novel. I've already spoken to some of you about getting an arc, and those will be mailed in December. I should have about ten more arcs that I can send out so if you'd like to receive and review RATTY, let me know.

Couldn't be happier to finally announce my next novel - Ratty. I love this story so much and can't wait for it to find new and old readers.

It's been a while since I posted anything about my writing career and the good news is, though I took a break, I'm writing again. Three projects have sold and are in production - a graphic novel, a middle grade novel and a chapter book series. So, dear readers, even though the wait has been long, next year you'll see some new stuff!
The photo below is a hint at one of my new characters. His name is Sam and I love him so much. Hope you'll love him, too.

This post is for Kitsap County families and the kidlit community - tonight, Oct 20, at 6:30pm, two delightful creators of kids' books will be at Liberty Bay Books in Poulsbo. And if you're interested in writing for young readers, this is a great chance to meet two very talented creators.
