After a two-year stint of research into pressing needs in the community, the PAD Center was launched by the Junior League of Lynchburg (JLL) in 2021, with support from community stakeholders Gleaning for the World and YWCA of Central Virginia to end period poverty and provide feminine hygiene products and related education for women in need in our community. Periods are a basic bodily function for around half of the population, but feminine hygiene products are not covered by food stamps or Medicaid, making them unaffordable for many women living in poverty. Their goal is to alleviate period poverty in Central Virginia.
Providing their clients with immediate response kits or monthly subscriptions is made possible in large part due to the generosity of local groups and individuals like us ❤️
