Does nature talk with us?
Spending time in this discussion with my apprentices this afternoon during our monthly on-farm gathering. What do you think?
Western herbalism has a tendency to pull from the traditions of general pagan, and specifically animist and wiccan beliefs. All cultures have writings that capture the experiences of those who spend time in the woods and hear or see from a different intelligence outside of them. The difference is in how they frame the experience and who they think is talking…
But what of Christianity? Most of that dogma denies the existence of an intelligence in nature. We are encouraged to resist these ideas to protect ourselves from evil influences… but Creation was made by God… and there are many, many, many passages within the Bible that share the truth of an intelligence in His created world of nature all around us.
So many Christians have pushed back against herbal training because of the dischord in this very issue. Perhaps the greatest lie is in framing the truth as evil and preventing believers from growing close to the Truth of life and health that He placed in plain sight all around us…
Have you struggled with this? Where are you in your thoughts around an intelligent nature?
We ask our brewer before we buy… do you?
GMO Alert! Ever since the term synthetic biology (SynBio) – the genetic engineering of microorganisms to produce novel ingredients – came on the scene, SynBio developers have been searching for ways to disassociate the process from genetic modification. One of the most-often-used descriptions to make the SynBio process and its novel products seem more normalized, acceptable, and consumer-friendly has been, "It’s just like brewing beer!" Well, we’ve now come full circle, with developers genetically engineering yeast in order to produce… wait for it… GMO SynBio beer. Are any of your favorite breweries on the list of known synthetic beer producers? When beer is no longer real...
And BEWARE: These SynBio companies will often describe what they're doing as "precision fermentation" or even simply as "fermentation" in order to bamboozle you and make you think it's all natural. IT IS NOT.

Umm…. If you haven’t switched to a real food dorito option… here’s your sign!
Dye in Doritos used in experiment that, like a 'magic trick,' created see-through mice Tartrazine, a dye used in making Doritos, has a light-absorbing quality that researchers used to apply to mice so they could see through the skin.
This is absolutely why we home-process our meat, buy from someone else local, AND don't buy conventional.
But that's not the main thing I'd like to talk about in response to this article....
Note the dates that inspections found truly disgusting things going on at the plant in question. It wasn't AFTER the recall folks. These inspections go on all the time and every time most of these places where BIG FOOD is processed have any number of violations that you would be shocked to see. Wanna know what the inspectors do about it? Do they shut down the lines and make them clean up? NOPE! They put it down on paper and wag their finger and say "do better". Then they walk away and leave them operating as before.
Wanna know what's in every single report that the FDA and the ODA has ever made on our facilities at the farm? Nothing... not a thing. This is because we run our facilities with a higher standard than the government inspectors demand.
Between the meat processor above and us- guess which one has been threatened with loss of family, home, and financial assets? Guess which one was blacklisted on servers across the internet? Which is treated as a dangerous public enemy?
Insects, mold and puddles of blood found at Boar's Head plant linked to listeria outbreak, records show In the last year, USDA officials logged 69 instances of noncompliance with federal regulations at the Boar’s Head plant in Jarratt, Virginia, which is at the center of the outbreak.
Quote from the article:
"Regularly eating red and processed meats in particular is associated with a higher risk of type 2 diabetes, according to an analysis of data from 31 study cohorts published Tuesday in the journal The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology."
See what they did there? The article is slanted to tell us that $cientists have found more evidence to suggest that eating red meat is bad for us... then they off-handedly drop the truth as if it doesn't matter...
OF COURSE regularly eating processed meats will raise your risk of type 2 diabetes!
One other little designation that should be made here is in regard to how the red meat is raised and processed. As none of these $cientists believe there is a difference between grass-fed and cafo beef, we never understand that variable in these studies... but it makes a world of difference in your body.
Eat red meat in moderation, if it is raised on grass, given care and respect and processed humanely. It is essential for health.
Eat red meat of questionable health and shameful processing... you are eating sickness and death.
There is a link between the meat you eat and a chronic disease, according to new research Many people are trying to cut back on red and processed meat for heart health or environmental reasons. A new global study shows another good reason.
So many folks are talking about foraging in your yard and garden for edible w**ds... if you've seen it done online, you may feel like trying it- BUT- how the heck do you make everything taste good?!?!
Yeah... there are a few extra things "they" might not have told you. So, this Saturday, I'm going to be hanging out on the farm for a couple quick- LIVE- talks. Come learn what the different w**ds taste like, how to best prepare them... and how to make them tasty!
Join me at Soda Farm in Marysville. The shop is open 9am-7pm, but you can stop by to see me and chat about w**d salads for FREE at 10am and 1pm.
