In November 2019, NNPCL/Belemaoil JV trained over 1000 women across Nigeria in various skills and opportunities. Participants also received starter packs to kick-off their small businesses.

As the first oil and gas producing company to rise from an oil producing community, Belemaoil Producing Limited, operator of the NNPCL/Belemaoil JV, understands the imperative of shared value for sustainable development and growth in our host communities and this has been a compelling driver of our operational focus.

NNPCL/Belemaoil JV has evolved a tradition of designing, building and delivering key community social amenities in education, health, potable water and electricity. The Host Community Development Trusts as required by the Petroleum Industry Act of 2021 gives clear impetus to our community development thrust.

The formal inauguration of the NNPCL/Belemaoil JV Host Communities Development Trusts (HCDT) Board of Trustees underscores our commitment to the Nigeria oil and gas industry and our enduring partnership with our host communities.

The OML-55 Host Communities are spread across three Local Government Areas in Rivers – Akuku Toru, Bonny and Degema, with most operations cited in Akuku Toru. Accordingly, the following Board of Trustees were inaugurated:
1. Kula Communities Host Community Development Trusts Board of Trustees with Chief David Emineye – Orlu as Chairman.
2. IDM Field Communities Host Communities Development Trusts Board of Trustees with Ven. Innocent Karibo (Ph.D.) as Chairman.
3. INDA Field Communities Host Communities Development Trusts Board of Trustees with Mr. Owunari Blakk as Chairman.

NNPCL/Belemaoil JV congratulates all Chairmen and members of the various Boards of Trustees and looks forward to a fruitful mutual partnership for the sustainable development of our host communities.

Belema Sweet Export Terminal: Positioning Kula as a Major Player in Global Oil Markets

The Belemaoil Joint Venture has unveiled the Belema Sweet Crude Export Terminal to stakeholders, host communities, and the general public. The project, which is to be located at Robertkiri, one of the production fields of OML-55 in Kula, Akukutoru Local Government Area of Rivers State, is expected to make a significant contribution to the Nigerian economy.

The Belema JV is a partnership between Belemaoil Producing Limited and Belema Sweet Export Terminal Limited.

The Belema Sweet Export Terminal has been designed to change the narrative and ensure there is effective utilization and increased value for owners of OML-55 & her Neighbourhood Assets (OML 18, 23, 24 & 25) It is also expected to provide job opportunities for the locals and stimulate business activities in the area, in addition to providing training and development opportunities for the people in specialized fields of oil and gas development, thereby contributing to community development and capacity building.

In Declaring the Workshop open, Acting Managing Director, Belemaoil, Mr. Collins Amadi, described the project as evidence of the deep tooted relationship between Belemaoil and Kula Kingdom and the commitment of the Founder/President of Belemaoil Producing Ltd, Mr. Tein T. S. Jack-Rich, towards the sustainable growth and capacity development of the community. He enjoined the people to embrace and take ownership of the project and to see it a catalyst for their future development and progress.

From the construction, commissioning, and production phases, the Belema Sweet Crude Export Terminal shall be a center of opportunities in creation of jobs, businesse, and community development. The project is expected to play a vital role in the development of the oil and gas industry in Nigeria and to position Kula kingdom and its people on the world map.

The Workshop was well attended by Traditional Rulers, community stakeholders, Women and youth groups.

The Braille system which was invented in 19th century France by Louis Braille has provided the visually impaired opportunities for literacy, enlightenment and productivity.
