Our schools need your help! Please consider making a donation to our upcoming food drive. We understand a lot of our families go through seasons of experiencing food insecurity and our pantry shelves are running dry. All donations can be dropped off at GBMS on Monday, February 26 or KBMS on Tuesday, February 27 during a drive-thru style event from 3:30 - 4:30. Pro tips for donations: Canned Goods with pop tops are preferred, or please consider donating a can opener. Boxed milk can be a treasured item. Consider donating items like flour, sugar, coffee, tea, salt, pepper and seasonings. We will also accept gift cards to grocery stores. Thank you in advance for your generosity! Tomorrow all Beacon students will complete our second round of Interim Testing. These assessments greatly assist us in evaluating our personalized learning goals and identifying which students need extra support or which students are ready for a challenge. Please join us in encouraging your students to answer all the questions and do their best!

We are excited to launch a new fun and family-friendly fundraising event, a Taste of Beacon, on Wednesday, February 28. Funds raised will support enrichments for all Grant Beacon and Kepner Beacon students. We need your help! Beacon Staff Shoutout to two of our GBMS paraprofessionals, Ms. Yadira Rodriguez and Ms. Andrea Estrada! They are the definition of going above and beyond for students at GBMS. Neither are required to lead an enrichment class, but both choose to take the time to create and run programming for our students. Ms. Rodriguez leads the Yearbook enrichment and for the second year in a row is ensuring that our students have a Yearbook with great memories from their school year. Ms. Estrada assisted with the yearbook last year and launched the Cheerleading enrichment this year which has been a huge success! Thank you both for your kindness and leadership and encouraging our students to explore their curiosity.

Leadership skills are a pillar of success for a Beacon student. We have many opportunities at school for students to be leaders including announcements crew, speaking and presenting at events, assisting in the office, Student Voice Committee, Peer Buddies, and acting as an ambassador for recruitment. We are grateful for all the community partners offering Leadership development to our students during enrichments including Youth Biz, Queenshipp, Boys and Girls Clubs, Big Brothers Big Sisters, DPD, and Girls Inc.

We're having an Open House on Wednesday, January 31 for all parents of future Dolphins to come and check out what KBMS has to offer your Middle School learner. We hope to see you there!

We have some incredible talent among our student artists and musicians, and Arts and Culture Enrichments offer fun and safe spaces for students to explore their creativity! From Drumline and Guitar to Crocheting and Diamond Painting, we are not short on opportunities for our artistic students to grow their skills and talents and to show off and perform for their families and peers.

Beacon Staff Shoutout to KBMS teacher Mr. Taylor Hammrich! I addition to teaching 8th Grade Science, Mr. Hammrich is also the 8th Grade Team Lead, Coaches Soccer, and represents KBMS teachers on our Beacon Network Schools Advisory Board! Last semester Mr. Hammrich organized a Ski and Ride day in collaboration with Denver Parks and Rec and 48 students from all grade levels were taken to Winter Park to learn from professional instructors how to ski and snowboard! DPR provided students with transportation and all the snow gear needed. Thank you to Mr. Hammrich for taking the time to organize such a special excursion and for wearing so many hats, so very well.

STEM Enrichments are among our most popular choices. GBMS students love trying out Aerospace and Rocketry and visiting Centennial Airport each quarter. GBMS also has a great Girls Who Code enrichment, encouraging our young female students to explore STEM options for their future careers. Our KBMS students love building with LEGOs and learning about Video Game Design!

Athletics and Health are a staple of our enrichment programming and from Yoga and Ultimate Frisbee to Lacrosse and Boxing, our students are always trying out and learning a new sport during the enrichment hour!
