Saturday lessons updates - 13 July
Group 1: Children completed Mandarin speaking and writing exams. They made great effort to complete their task on time. The task was to write a letter to a Chinese e-pal friend to introduce themselves, including family, hobbies, pets, favorite food and drink etc. It was excellent! Congatulations on completing the Jinbu 1 study this year! 👏
Group 2: Students had HSK3 mock paper 3 listening and got average 80-82% correct. They concentrated on work well and made good effort! Homework: complete the rest of the paper3 and paper 2. Keep revising and master the key vocabulary until the exam soon! ✍️😊
Saturday lessons updates - 15, 22 Jun
Group 1: we enjoyed eating 粽子 sticky rice wrapped with bamboo leaves, completed Chapter 5 daily meal topic study and exercises on p. 77 -78. Started the last sub topic introduction. Homework: revise revising chapter 5 vocabulary on p. 88.
Group 2: Completed HSK3 workbook first mock exam listening and reading parts last week, discussed the mistakes this week and started new mock paper 1 listening exercise. Homework: do workbook mock exam paper writing part, new mock paper 1.

Trip to UCL Zoology Museum
Thanks so much to Nicola for taking us there! As British Museum was closed due to a protest was happening unexpectedly, we quickly adjusted our plan and visited the nearby UCL Zoology museum instead.
We had another wonderful time. A knowledgeable and enthusiastic PhD student Victoria gave us a comprehensive and engaging tour of the museum the whole time. Children were so interested, asked lots of questions and learned a lot. 😀
Children enjoyed delicious noodles and packed lunch. 🍜😋
❤What A Lovely and Meaningful Trip ❤ - Happy Children's Day 😀- 1st June 2024
We first visited London Fo Guang Shan Temple with varieties of activities - Miao Duo Master gave us a wonderful tour. Introduction of Fo Guang Shan history, the founder, the activities, stories, interactive questions and enlightening answers, mediation and calligraphy sessions.
Children learned some tips of how to get along with siblings; also learned Three important Acts of Goodness: Do Good Deeds, Speak Good Words, Think Good Thoughts (存好心 说好话 做好事). Master explained that it seems simple, but not easy sometimes. It takes lots of practice. We learned to give others confidence, joy, hope and convenience. 给人信心,给人欢喜,给人希望,给人方便。😊❤🙏
I was so impressed that our children were amazingly well behaved and respectful, actively asking thoughtful questions and answering questions. 👍
Saturday lessons Summary - 11 May
Group 1: practised the vocab from Ch5. 1 I eat rice, completed one page of related exercise. Homework: the other page of exercise from the lesson.
Group 2: Lesson 6 learned 3 new grammar structures and completed the sentences work based the structures. Homework: Textbook lesson 6 exercise p. 51-54.
🌟"2024 Chinese Bridge - Mandarin Speaking Competition - UK Final" at SOAS university on 9th May. 🌟Our outstanding A-Level student Anee had won the 1st Place among many excellent and competitive contestants from the UK schools. Anee will receive the Award in September. Well done Anee!👍What an amazing achievement! 😃❤
Saturday Lessons Updates - 4 May
Group 1: Children had a productive lesson. Completed learning to write all the food and drink vocab from Chapter 5 topic 1 I eat rice. p.72. Students enjoyed leading to read the words with others; completed 3 listening exercises on p.72-73; 1 reading exercise and 2 speaking exercises. Homework: practice writing 3 times for each vocab. p.72: Writing 8.
Group 2: Revised and completed four texts' studies on p.47-48. Homework: write 5 times for each vocab on p.47-48. Preview grammar structure on p.49-50 before doing the workbook exercise: p.39-42.
Saturday lessons updates - 27 April
Group 1: completed exercise on p. 67.started a new topic Chapter 5 food and drink. Learned to talk about our favorite food and drink, practised writing the first 3 new vocab characters from p. 72. Homework: practise writing the new words 5 times each.
Group 2: Started Lesson 6 study. Completed 4 dialogues learning and speaking practice. Learned and wrote new vocab. Homework: practise writing new vocab 5 times each, do lesson 6 workbook exercise.

Saturday lessons updates - 20 April
Group1: Children enjoyed an immersive speaking tasks on interviewing each other with the questions on p. 65. Well done!👍 We investigated characters by learning two more radicals on p. 64, completed a listening exercise on p. 66. Homework: p. 65: Reading 2. Remember to complete research on schools in China and answer questions on page 63.Reading 2.
Then, we finished our lesson with a fun activity - playing a few minutes of Chinese shuttlecock 毽球. 😄
Group 2: Completed workbook exercise on p. 32-35. New topic vocabulary study from lesson 6. Homework: practice writing new vocab from p. 46 - 48. Preview the 4 texts on p. 47-48.

Group 1: Started with speaking exercise as a revision; completed writing task on p.61.6. Explored the Chinese school and culture in details. Children enjoyed learning and discusing the differences between Chinese schools and UK schools. Homework: p. 63. Do further research about School in China to create a poster or 3-7slides PPT.
Group 2: Started with a revision, completed the exercises on p. 42-44. Homework: Textbook p. 44. 2 make 3 sentences; workbook p. 32-35 try to complete it as much as possible. Practice reading texts from Lesson 5 for 3 times.

Group 1: Learned to talk about classes. Completed 2 listening exercise, 2 reading exercise and 1 speaking exercise on p. 60-61. Excellent work. We have completed four chapters study. 👍Homework: p. 61. Writing 6; Revise vocabulary from chapter 1-4.
Group 2: Reviewed Lesson 5 texts, completed exercises from textbook p. 40-42. Brilliant work on speaking and translating in the lesson. 👏Homework: textbook p. 44; workbook: p. 32-35; revise the first 5 lessons vocabulary and grammar.
2024 'Chinese Bridge' Mandarin Speaking Competition for UK - 22 Mar 2024 🌟
Our lovely student Anee first time participated in the UK Mandarin speaking Competition today. Well done for the excellent speech and joyful conversations in Chinese with the judge.👏 Thanks to the parents' years of support with the learning. 🥰 It's a fantastic event for Mandarin students to experience and build up our children's conference and leadership skills. 👍
Saturday lessons summary - 16 March
Group 1: Learned a new topic on talking about school in China. Completed one reading exercise and two listening exercise on p. 60. Homework: practice writing at least 5 times for each new vocab from the blue boxes on p. 60-61. *

Mandarin University fair at UCL
Attended the Mandarin subjects related university fair at UCL international students house. Students enjoyed watching the Mandarin students speeches from different schools in the UK. They had the opportunity to communicate with other schools Mandarin students, communicating with different universities teachers to find out more specific modules they offer, finding out the details of the Chinese cities for the 2nd year university study extrange between China and UK etc.
Mandarin Trip - Fo Guang Shan Temple
Master Jue Qian gave us a very engaging, comprehensive and enlightening introduction of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and humanistic Buddhism... We lit a incense to show respect at the entrance of the Temple. There are over 300 Fo Guang Shan Temples all over the world. We learned that one of the main roles for temples is counseling and serving the people. Finally, Master Hue Qian took us to the library for a 3- minutes medication and Chinese calligraphy session. Students write beautifully. Children loved the peaceful and enlightening tour. 🥰

Group 1: Children completed their translation task to Chinese in writing beautifully. They carefully corrected and impeoved their work. Well done. Then children thoughtfully created a mother's Day card in Chinese to show their appreciation for mother's love. ❤
Group 2: completed textbook all the lesson 4 exercises and the workbook reading exercise on p. 25. Homework: complete the rest workbook exercise on p. 26, 27, 28
Saturday lessons updates- 2 Mar
Group 1: Students practised making sentences about school timetable based on the sentences structure of "subject + time + verb + object" and wrote their own sentences. Completed speaking and reading exercise, and enjoyed reading a funny rhythm about Pronounciation of 'u'. Excellent effort! Homework: p. 59.Writng 5.
Group 2: Reviewed the four texts from lesson 4, discussed the two main grammar structures of the lesson, and completed the relevant exercises from p. 32-35. Good concentration during the lesson. Well done. Homework: write 5 times for each new vocab in lesson 4; complete workbook: p. 25-28

Group1: Learned how to talk about school subjects timetable on p. 58. Revised school subjects. Homework: try to make 5 sentences about describing school timetable. For example, 我星期一上午九点十分有英文课。
Group 2: Completed Workbook Lesson 3 Listening exercise and corrections, revised textbook Lesson 4, text1&2, learned text3&4. Homework: textbook: try the exercise on p. 32-34 based on the grammar points from lesson 4.

Group 1: Started lesson with a revision quiz about school subject, completed reading exercise, listening and speaking exercises on p. 56 about time for lessons. Homework: p. 57. Reading 4, writing 6. The second worksheet from the lesson.
Group 2: Students had fun of drawing different objects based on everyone's unique description of what's around their study desks in Chinese. Well done! Then started a new topic - Lesson 4, completed learning new vocab and the first two texts. Students spoke well. Homework: practice writing new vocab 5 times each.

😀Great to see students are ready for our spring term study. What a productive and joyful New Year first lesson today! 🌟
Group 1: Children shared their peaceful or active, relaxing or busy Christmas holiday experience with everyone. Revised the previous three chapters contents effectively and completed one exercise sheet on describing dates. Finally, we started our new topic learning on school subjects. Learned to speak different school subjects and practices new characters writing p. 54. Fantastic effort, everyone! 👍Homework: complete the whole row of writing for each vocab.
Group 2: After students sharing everyone's Christmas holiday experience, we revised the previous two lessons vocabulary and texts. Students worked in pairs and creatively made many funny dialogues based on the structures and enjoyed performing to others. Well done! 👏 Homework: Read Lesson 2 text 2 and 3, create your own dialogues based on the structures; practice lesson 2 vocab, we will have a vocab quiz on lesson 2 next lesson.
🌲Christmas Celebration - 23 Dec 🌲
Started our celebrations 🥳with practising Christmas words in Chinese and enjoying a competition of guessing the riddles in Chinese among 3 teams. Children found all the answers and spoke them correctly in Chinese. Fantastic! 👏We made paper Christmas tree, coloured Christmas tree and snowman based on Chinese instructions. We enjoyed singing Christmas songs in Chinese while enjoying snacks at the same time. 🥳

Group 1: Students combined three chapters vocabulary and used them to create their own writing for introducing themselves, family, birthday and hobbies. Everyone took turns to read their work confidently. Fantastic work! I am so proud of their efforts. Homework: please recite the work you have written and present to everyone next lesson.
Group 2: We discussed and completed Lesson 2 workbook exercise from p.11-14. Good effort! Homework: please revise the textbook lesson 1 and 2 vocabulary by creating your own quizlet or flashcards to master the vocabulary and preview lesson 3 contents.

Group 1: Completed reading and writing exercise on p. 51. Children were able to complete the translation task nearly and accurately! Excellent! We enjoyed learning and singing Chinese songs. Homework: write a small paragraph in Chinese characters to introduce yourself and family. Include your name, family members, pet, birthday and your hobbies.
Group 2: Most of students had other plans this week. During the lesson, we mainly revised frequently used vocabulary by playing the attached board game. Learned and practised writing weather related vocabulary. We also expanded our vocabulary by singing popular songs. Well done for the roductive revision! No homework.
