Sharing beach, sunset, and travel photos! Passion for capturing emotions, excitement and little reminders of life’s extraordinary moments.
If you’ve ever been at a rock show and seen a girl with rainbow hair and a camera in her hands running around, that was probably me! Some years ago, I pursued and graduated with a degree in Digital Media/Graphic Design, where my intentions were to become a packaging and web designer for bands and record labels. At some point in the pursuit of that adventure, I ended up with a camera in my hands in
A photo of when plans don't go quite as planned!
For our latest trip to New Zealand, we had so many places that we wanted to see that I arranged a daily itinerary to try to squeeze in as much as possible during the time we had. I even noted sunrise and sunset times, considering from the perspective where I wanted to be at what time.
Cape Reinga Lighthouse was one of those carefully planned out ones - I'd seen dozens of beautiful photos of it at sunset, and imagined the exact shot I wanted. And well, let's just say, this wasn't it. In my careful, tedious planning, I somehow completely forgot that it isn't possible to control the weather! It drizzled off and on as we drove up to the north point, but I kept my optimism that it might clear and we'd get a great, atmosphere sunset. As you can see, that didn't happen. Thankfully, we did get there just in time to snap a few shots before the bottom fell out, and this shot turned out to be amongst my favorites from the trip anyway!

Been a while, but recently returned from a month long adventure in New Zealand where I dusted off the camera and loaded up with new photos! Sadly, no spectacular sunsets during our time there but I managed to drag myself out of bed for a few stunning sunrises!

The sunsets have been better than usual this month, but we got one of those especially spectacular ones last night at Paradise Beach. Walked down from Batts Rock beach and saw whales off the coast, too! Sadly, I wasn't prepared with the right lens to capture them but I'm sure the catamaran that sailed past had an incredible view.

Ever since living within walking distance of the beach, it has been an objective to go out and watch/take a photo of sunset every night I possibly can. Thought it might be time to share a collection of a few of my favorites!

Sunset last night was breathtaking. Definitely one of the most beautiful I've seen in so far. The oranges and yellows on the horizon were so vibrant in person that the sky almost didn't look real.
Sunset from two nights ago and the best from the first week in the new place. About to head out and catch another over Paynes Bay tonight!
It's officially my one year anniversary in and last week I celebrated a little early by moving to an apartment MUCH closer to the beach. I feel so at ease to be able to just walk across the beach and start the day with this beautiful view and end the day watching the sunset over the ocean.

And now for something completely different!
I tried to go out for sunset photos the weekend before this one but it ended up raining on me, so I took the week to go through some photos that have just been collecting dust on my hard drives instead. I have so many unshared images from my couple months spent in New Zealand last year, so it's about time I got to some of them.
I started with one of the highlights of my trip and one of the most magical places out there - the location of The Shire from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Hobbiton Movie Set.

Happy Friday!
Last weekend while walking the route from Holetown to Speightstown, I found a "Public Access to Beach" sign that I had missed every time before. Turns out, if you walk down the road past the local supermarket, there's a pretty little in front of Schooner Bay Condo Complex. Sat there under the shade of a palm tree listening to the waves crash and relaxed the rest of the day!
Don't forget to take time for you this weekend. :)
Monday again?! Take me back to the instead!

Did you know that unlike normal trees, palm trees are made of a spongy material with malleable cells that can flex then return to their normal position? They are extremely flexible and adaptable trees, even able to defy hurricane force winds!

Last night, I shared this image of the beautiful from two evenings ago and it has been receiving an unexpected outpouring of love. Thank you to all who have shared or commented!
Back story notes: I've been trying to catch a pretty sunset since our COVID restrictions loosened up in April. It's a difficult task because I live inland with no car and it's an hour walk to the beach - which means an hour walk home (with no sidewalks!) in the dark afterward. Lately, we've been adjusting our daytime walks to end close to a bus terminal so we can stay for sunset, but 8/10 times it ends up raining or the clouds in the distance are so thick that you can't even see the sun cross the horizon.
This was actually the case for this sunset, but, the afterglow colors really came out to play. I was watching rain clouds roll in, but the sky kept getting prettier and prettier and I couldn't pull away! The rain started about 3 minutes after this photo and we ran to the bus terminal up the street to take cover. So grateful the rain held off just long enough this time and that nature decided to share one of its beautiful displays with me. 💜❤️🧡
