We sometimes have clients say, 'I'm not a museum person" and we can get that. But then they hear about the balsamic vinegar museum, the prosciutto museum, or the parmigiano cheese museum, and it's a whole other thing! 😁😜
A visit to any of them while in Emilia Romagna is a tasty idea! We happen to highlight to museo dell'aceto balsamico! Most people don't realize how long it takes to create real balsamic vinegar.

Just over an hour from Rome but a world away is the cute hill town of Caprarola, where the pretty ambiance of a medieval town and its winding streets and beautiful countryside would be enough to attract you. But this town also has a pentagonal palace on top, built by the powerful Farnese family, and it is a stunner! The opulent and unusual palace, its gorgeous gardens, and the views all make it worth a day trip from wherever you may be staying in Lazio or southern Umbria!

Today is a national holiday and *the* biggest vacation day (and week) of the year! Celebrating the Feast of the Assumption, there are religious processions as well as beach parties, countryside picnics and barbecues, and many big family gatherings today! Folks who live in other parts of Italy often return to their hometowns for Ferragosto, or head to the beach or mountains. It is, in essence, prime vacation time this week!

So, Buon Ferragosto to you!

13/08/2024

The spectacular cliffs of Sorrento and the surrounding hills, landscapes and seascapes are definitely worth a visit!

Every wonder what "ferragosto" is? Or why Italy's cities seem to close down in mid-August? Or why everybody runs to the beaches and mountains during the week of mid-August? Here's your answer! We give you the history behind Ferragosto - and why it is the most expensive and crowded vacation week of the year!

Sorrento is known for its lemons - made into that famous liqueur limoncello, and the delectable delizia al limone. If you haven't yet tried this heavenly sponge cake of lemon and cream, you definitely need to when you're there. If you want to recreate it at home, here is the recipe. (Not it's not one of the simpler recipes we've shared with you, but if you enjoy working in the kitchen, you'll be rewarded with delicious results!
