We love Melaleuca at our house!
Twenty years of research indicated that vapors from caustic cleaners containing chlorine bleach, ammonia, and quaternary disinfectants are as dangerous to your lung capacity as smoking a pack of ci******es a day for 20 years! National brand cleaners are packed with these dangerous ingredients. While you're deep cleaning this spring, protect your family and the air they breathe with EcoSense cleaners by using plant-derived and biodegradable ingredients!

YOU CAN ACTUALLY GROW A LEMON TREE FROM SEED
It's not as difficult as you might think, and you and your Family might even find it fun to grow it together. Here is some info on how to do that:
Buy an Organic Lemon from the grocery store
You will need a 6 inch x 6 inch planting pot
You will need a bag of potting soil that contains peat, perlite, vermiculite and natural fertilizers.
You also need a growing location in your home that gets at least 8 hours of sun each day, or you can supplement with a growing light
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Fill the small planting pot with potting mix to an inch from rim
2) Moisten the potting soil until it is damp, but not soaked
3) Get a Lemon Seed from your Organic Lemon, and take all pulp from surface
4 ) Plant immediately while it is still moist--1/2 inch deep in the pot
5) Spray the soil gently with a spray bottle, but don't soak
6) Cover the planting pot with clear plastic wrap, put a rubber band around edges to seal, and poke a few small holes in top
7) Place your planting pot in a sunny warm location in your home
8) Spray water on your soil each day to keep soil from drying out, but not too much
9) In about 2 weeks, your little Lemon Tree seedling will emerge. Take plastic off, and make sure it gets 8 hours of light each day, or supplement with a grow light
10) Keep the soil damp, and make sure to give it a dose of organic fertilizer mixed in your water once every 2 weeks
11) Once it outgrows the Planting pot, you can put it into a larger 24 inch wide x 12 inch deep grow pot.
12) It will take 2 - 3 years before your Lemon Tree will start producing fruit

These are just a few of the many wild mushrooms fruiting in the northern hemisphere at this time of year.
The land can provide us with everything we need. Get to know the wild beings on the land where you live. Adopt an eco-centric worldview. Get involved in land defense and regeneration efforts, so that future generations of all beings can live well for eons to come.
From Learn Your Land : While morels are probably the most coveted of all, many other wild edible fungi can be harvested this time of year. For more information on each species, I recommend consulting various field guides, spending quality time in the company of knowledgeable mushroom hunters, and joining your local mushroom club.
No space for a garden? We hear this a lot! Here is a great bit of information on how to grow a great garden in CONTAINERS!
Please Plant a Garden. If you don't have a big yard, or any yard at all, you can still plant in containers. I feel now more than ever that we will need to grow some of our own food and be less dependent on the stores. We are in very uncertain times in our country’s and world’s history - prices are insane and many people are in need of nature’s therapy. Having a garden feeds your mind, body, and soul!
There are several types of containers that can be used for growing vegetables including polyethylene plastic bags, clay pots, plastic pots, metallic pots, milk jugs, ice cream containers, bushel baskets, barrels, and planter boxes. Be creative! I’ve seen herb gardens in gutters attached to a wall, veggies planted in the flowerbeds, even pumpkins in bathtubs! Check out what other people have don by googling or looking at Pinterest for inspiration! It is important to use containers that can accommodate roots of the vegetables you want to grow as the vegetables vary in sizes and rooting depths. - Other than that, you are only limited by your imagination!
The container needs to have good drainage, and should not contain chemicals that are toxic to plants and human beings. Most vegetables grown in backyard gardens can be grown in containers, although a container's diameter and depth needs to be considered when selecting what vegetables to grow. The plant density (number of vegetable plants per container) depends on individual plant space requirements, and rooting depth.
It's best to use potting mix in vegetable container gardening as they are light, disease-free, w**d seed-free, and have good drainage. Some potting mixes have pre-mixed plant nutrients, so read the information on the label about how long the pre-mix will feed your plants before you start applying fertilizers. You can also make your own two bushels of potting mix using the following recipe: Shredded sphagnum peat moss (1 bushel), Vermiculite (1 bushel), Ground limestone (1¼ cups), Phosphate fertilizer either 0-20-0 (½ cup) or 0-45-0 (¼ cup), Slow release granular fertilizer such as 5-10-5 (1 cup). That being said, oftentimes it is more cost effective to purchase bags.
Regardless of which soil you decide to use, regular fertilization will yield the most produce. Container-grown plants require more frequent fertilization than plants grown directly in the ground because of the limited space within the container for drawing nutrients. Fertilizers can be mixed with the soil mix before filling the container and can also be applied as a nutrient solution. Nutrient solutions can be made by dissolving soluble fertilizer such as 10-20-10, 12-24-12 or 8-16-8 in water following label directions. How often you water will vary with vegetables and temperatures.
Leach the unused fertilizer nutrients from the potting mix once a week by applying tap water only. I’ve been reading about the importance of watering, occasionally, with a nutrient solution containing micro nutrients such as copper, zinc, boron, manganese, and iron and follow label directions in order to give plants the right amounts. Hmmm. . .🤔
Plants grown in containers need frequent watering as the containers dry fast. Watering on a daily basis when temperatures rise and as your plants grow larger is necessary to provide adequate moisture. You can check the need for water by wiggling your finger into the topsoil to the depth of your cuticle. If you feel
moisture, no need to water, yet. Be sure to have adequate drainage holes in your containers and add drainage to about the bottom
quarter of your container with packing peanuts, coarse gravel, or (my favorite) empty water bottles. Avoid splashing dirt up onto the leaves when watering as this will encourage development of foliar disease. Try not to allow the containers to dry out completely between watering as this will lead to flower and fruit drop. Do not over water the plants as the container will be waterlogged and the roots will lack oxygen leading to poor growth and eventually, perhaps, the plant's death. I know, I know. It seems like a lot, but you’ll get to know your plant family’s individual needs!
The size of the containers needed will depend a lot on the vegetable or herbs you are planting. Most Herbs can be planted in 1/2 - 1 gallon containers. Cabbages, Cucumbers, Green Beans, Leaf Lettuce, Spinach, Swiss Chard, and Cherry Tomatoes can be planted in 1 gallon containers. Beets, Carrots, Eggplants, Peppers and Radishes need 2 gallon containers. Your regular tomatoes will need 3 gallon containers. (great chart attached from the University of Illinois Extension)
There you have it! You CAN have a garden without ground . . .you just have to think a bit differently.
