Even though its meaning shifts over time, the idea behind ‘Old Feelings’ - initially a watercolour from 2021 about overwhelming rumination – resonates with me now as much as when I first painted it.
These old feelings linger and take root within me, melt into me, through me and, eventually – inevitably – around me. Slowly, they seep outwards into the immediate present where they take root and immobilise my mind, and my body. Silently, this sense of being unable to detach from what once was grows. As these viscous past parts settle, they grow heavy and weigh on me, until I become unable to move beyond them. Here, reality stagnates and becomes enmeshed with old places, old bodies, old feelings.
Excerpt from a stone lithography workshop, a printmaking technique I'm excited to explore further. It sits at the perfect intersection of drawing and the technical physicality of printmaking. Plus, being able to print from a stone is captivating.

The first solar plate I printed in November 2022, after being back in the printmaking studio after a 2 year gap due to the COVID pandemic. Coincidentally, it also happens to be the first solar plate I ever made back in 2019, though the technique and plate were different.
Full print coming soon.
The physicality of printmaking is an aspect of the practice I adore.

From a time where no matter what I did to release it, all my frustration and anger felt completely stuck to me.

Lighting print test for a new solar plate using the Bitmap raster technique. Stay tuned for more... 😱
Charcoal sketch in between larger pieces. This one was a lesson in not being precious about a piece, erasing large parts of it, and seeing what new shapes and features emerge when you take a step back to let the drawing breathe.

The first solar plate print I made during 3rd year at uni, lovingly titled “Scream” because we love clichés 😤. I love the raw and visceral emotion conveyed here. One day I‘ll set foot in a printmaking studio again and make more of these 😭
