Amanda’s Breast Cancer Journey

Remission party shenanigans yesterday! Clearly didn’t get enough pictures but had a wonderful celebration ❤️ I am blessed far more than I could possibly deserve to have great family and friends that may as well be family. Who knew kicking cancer to the curb could be so rewarding 🙏

12 weeks since last chemo and almost 5 weeks since last radiation. Life is starting to feel back to normal. My energy level is leaps and bounds better and I’m strong enough again to walk both of my puppy dogs together at the same time❤️ my hair is coming in and it looks so crazy but I don’t care! I’ve had to shave my legs & underarms several times, and pluck my eyebrows 😆 waiting for my eyelashes to recover lol 😆 I’m very much looking forward to celebrating Saturday 💕

Last radiation tomorrow morning!!!

Update! My radiation oncologist was able to get all of the required doses set up in 15 sessions instead of 20😍 today I had my 5th treatment so I’m 1/3 of the way done with 10 more to go 🥰🙏

4 radiation treatments completed last week and happy to report the only side effect so far is needing a nap every day🤣 But, I’ve always loved a good nap ❤️ My body continues to get stronger everyday! It’s been 5 weeks since last chemo and I have some peach fuzz coming in on my head, and might need to shave my legs soon😆 Having some issues with my fingernails, mainly being discolored and a few of my fingertips are still swollen and sore. They will grow out eventually and be beautiful again in no time🥰Taste buds are back to normal 🙏🙏 couple more weeks of radiation and will be thrilled to close this chapter and move on to the next chapter of living life to the absolute fullest. Thankful for every single day and every beautiful person that’s supported me in this journey to recovery ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Radiation #2 down, 18 more to go😊❤️‍🩹

Yesterday I got dialed in for my radiation treatments. They start on June 18 and if all goes as scheduled the last treatment will be on July 17. This Friday is a BIG day! I get my chemo port removed ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 So ready for it to be out😊 Had to wait 3 weeks from last chemo treatment for surgery to get it out and was able to get it scheduled for exactly 21 days after chemotherapy 🤪🤣 Days matter, lol! Ready to go to Vegas Monday, work meetings through Thursday morning then Chad is meeting me there Thursday to spend some much needed time together in the place we were married 14 years ago ❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰

Today started out pretty sketchy but I’ve had a pretty good day overall. Woke up at 1:30 am thirsty and hot/sweating. And the tips of my toes were hurting really bad 🤷🏼‍♀️Got out of bed, drank ice water and Gatorade and watched a movie. Went back to bed at about 4:30 and slept off and on for several more hours. Had enough energy to do a few things around the house (laundry/etc). I wear out super fast so I have to take a lot of breaks but it feels good to be up and moving around😊 Taste buds still aren’t working 🙄🙄 And!! Talked to my bestie Michelle Billingsley on the phone and we booked ourselves a Florida vacation in October to visit our friend Molly 🥰💗

Tired and achy from the neulasta shot on Saturday. This time it didn’t come on until Sunday afternoon. It’s been making me achy by the time I get home from the shot😳 resting and taking it easy this week.

8 days until LAST chemotherapy treatment 🙏💪

Have reached the insomnia portion of the week following treatment. Wednesday and Thursday nights didn't sleep well, but finally, last night was able to get some rest. Sleep is such an important part of gaining my strength and healing throughout this process. And I get quite cranky when I am tired! Hopefully it will just be those few days and I am on the other side!

I’m feeling a little better but cautious about it because I know what comes Thursday into Friday. I think I slept 40 of 48 hours from Sunday morning to this morning. When I’m tired I sleep. Body repairs itself while sleeping so must be some miracles happening the past few days🙏🙏 Oncologist described the Thursday/Friday phenomenon as the temporary crash of my immune system. Common side effect of the neulasta shot. The crash is temporary and the boost of immune system is the response. The 24 hour period when that is happening is so scary, but at least now I understand it’s doing what it’s supposed to ❤️‍🩹 💪💪
