Rio Rancho Math Camp
Rio Rancho Math Camp provides a positive math experience every summer for local Middle School students who enjoy Math.
Hey, Rio Rancho math enthusiasts! We are now into our second year doing MathCamp4Adults. Two sessions are scheduled for Summer 2018. Let your inner math geek out to play! After all, why should the kids have all the fun? www.MathCamp4Adults.com
We have also started an Albuquerque based MathClub4Adults. First meeting is in January. C'mon down! https://www.meetup.com/Albuquerque-MathClub4Adults/

Math Camp begins tomorrow! We are excited and ready to rock! See everyone in the morning. We are going to do some very cool Topology 'stuff'!
Very cool. The Fibonacci Sequence at play.
It Seems Like A Normal Sculpture, But When It Spins, I Couldn't Look Away A series of 3D printed sculptures are designed such that the appendages fit Fibonacci's Sequence, a mathematical sequence that manifest naturally in objects like sunflowers and pinecones. When spun, these sculptures come to life.
This is the best Pi info out there. Why? Because Jo believes, as I do, that knowing the digits of Pi is infinitely less important than understanding what Pi means. Hint: Something to do with the fact that the ratio of circumference to diameter of every circle, no matter what size, is the same!!!
Jo's thoughts on Pi We wanted to wish you a very happy and epic Pi day! We have created a Pi Day post with my thoughts on Pi. It includes some new and very interesting data on Pi from the PISA team. We have also included a short white board animation you may like to use in Pi celebrations, it is from my How to Learn…
Get your Pi on! It's never too early to plan out your March 14th. That's national Pi day, and Flying Star restaurants are offering free ice cream when you purchase a piece of pi(e)!
Listen to a 7 minute interview with Rio Rancho Math Camp and KUMN's Katie Holmes. Lots of fun and some good math with two seventh graders! https://www.dropbox.com/s/zrddrvr2szlquzh/RioRanchoMathCampKUMNinterview.m4a?dl=0
Here's what Anthony wrote on his application for last summer's Math Camp. Kids like this make it fun for everyone! Apply at www.YoungMathWizards.com.
Registration season is open for the June 2015 Math Camp. If you know any 5th or 6th graders that like Math, let them know they can apply at www.YoungMathWizards.com.
Here's what Amelie wrote on her application last year!
We'll be on local Public Radio's Children's Hour, this Saturday at 9:00 am MT -- being interviewed about Rio Rancho Math Camp. Looking forward to it.

Don’t Teach Math, Coach It What I learned from baseball about making learning fun.
Great article. I highly recommend this to teachers and parents. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/27/magazine/why-do-americans-stink-at-math.html?hpw&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&version=HpHedThumbWell&module=well-region®ion=bottom-well&WT.nav=bottom-well
Why Do Americans Stink at Math? The Common Core should finally improve math education. The problem is that no one has taught the teachers how to teach it.
The fun and math begins today! Welcome parents and campers to the 2014 Rio Rancho Math Camp! We're ready with some great lessons. See you all at 9:45 am!
Interesting combination of tutoring and technology--looks promising. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/20/science/tabtor-math-app-has-an-unusual-human-touch.html?hpw&rref=education
A Math App That Offers an Unusual Human Touch Tabtor offers, along with the usual sums, something seemingly unique: an instructor who tracks a child’s progress and offers feedback.
