Give it up for Greyson, the newest member of the Foster Fail Club! After 102 days with Pets In Need, he is officially home.

At a recent adoption event, Greyson’s foster dad told us, “We will never let him go back to the shelter. We’ll foster until he finds his home.” Well he didn’t have to look too far! Fast forward a few weeks and foster mom says, “He fits right into the pack and we couldn’t imagine life without him.”

What an amazing love story! 🥰 Thank you to all of our amazing foster families who open their homes and hearts to help animals get out of the shelter.

It’s raining cats and dogs! But rain or shine, it’s parade time. 🎉☔️🤩 Happy 💯 birthday to the May Fete Parade in Palo Alto! Our Pets In Need pups and humans (led by adoptable big dogs Oreo and Azul) are honored to be a part of it.

P.S. All long-stay animals like Oreo and Azul have reduced adoption fees of just $50 this month, plus a training scholarship! Come meet them at our Palo Alto shelter today!

P.P.S. As much as these pups loves puddles, we cut the day short to get them warm and cozy back at the shelter. We’ll see you at the next parade on 5/18 in Los Altos!

🐾🔍🐶💙 Today is Lost Dog Awareness Day, a reminder to keep a watchful eye out for our beloved furry friends who may have wandered away from home. If you find yourself in the heartbreaking situation of a lost pet, please know that you're not alone – we're here to help! Here's what you can do if you've lost your pet:

🏢 Check our Shelter: If you live in Palo Alto, Los Altos, or Los Altos Hills, your lost pet may end up at our Palo Alto shelter. Our Redwood City shelter does not accept strays from Redwood City. For pets lost in Redwood City, please contact Peninsula Humane Society. Regularly check with other shelters in the area.

📄 File a Lost Animal Report: It's crucial to file a lost animal report with us. Lost pet forms can be found at petsinneed.org/lost

🖥️ Utilize Online Resources: If your pet is microchipped, report them missing to their microchip company. Regularly check 24PetConnect and Finding Rover for updates on lost pets.

📱 Spread the Word: Post on neighborhood social media sites like NextDoor and Craigslist. Create and distribute lost pet flyers within a three-block radius of your home.

❤️ Stay Hopeful: Searching for a lost pet can be a stressful time, but remember, many lost pets are eventually found and returned home safely.

Acting quickly and utilizing all available resources increases the chances of a happy reunion when searching for a lost pet. You can learn more about available resources at petsinneed.org/blog/lostpetguide. Know that we're here to support you every step of the way.

Today, we honor our brave and loyal K9 veterans on ! 🐾

From search and rescue missions to detecting explosives, these courageous canines selflessly risk their lives to keep us safe. But did you know that German Shepherds like Molly, Hammie, and Lady remain the most popular breed of K9 officers in service worldwide? Here are several reasons why:

🧠 Intelligence: German Shepherds are highly intelligent dogs, making them easier to train for complex tasks.

🎾Trainability: They have a strong desire to work and please their handlers, which makes them highly trainable for various tasks such as scent detection, search and rescue, and more.

🏋️‍♂️ Physical Attributes: German Shepherds possess a combination of strength, agility, and endurance, which are essential for the physically demanding tasks that K9 officers often perform.

❤️ Protective Instincts: German Shepherds have a natural protective instinct, making them loyal and devoted partners to their loved ones.

🌎 Versatility: German Shepherds can adapt to various environments and climates, making them suitable for work in different regions and situations.

Molly, Hammie, and Lady are three adoptable German Shepherds in our care who share the same qualities, keen intelligence, and work ethic. Swing by our shelters in Palo Alto or Redwood City to meet these intelligent and hardworking dogs.
