Harry Flatters Rally

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE HARRY FLATTERS RALLY (24/10/21)

​Brecon Motor Club regrets to announce that it intends to rest the Harry Flatters Rally with immediate effect.
A number of factors have forced this decision not least the shortage of members able to commit their free time to the ever-increasing demands on organisers of special stage rallies.

We are especially thankful to Stephens & George Printers who have loyally supported the event since its inception in 1985.

Rest assured the club will not be dormant and other exciting activities are planned which will hopefully be easier for club members to become involved in and manage successfully.

To all competitors, championship organisers and officials who have been part of the Flatters family over the years we are indebted and hope to see you in the future be it on our other events or out marshalling.

This is a sad chapter in the long history of the club but hopefully it will give us time to reflect and put our resources into other projects and opportunities for our members.

Chairman - Brecon Motor Club

It is with regret that Brecon Motor Club has to announce that the 2020 Stephens & George Harry Flatters Rally is cancelled. The military authority has withdrawn its permission due to it being unable to manage the risk and the priorities of training. There is no plan to run the event later in the year so we will plan to be back with a vengeance in 2021.

I think that we can now reveal that the 2020 Stephens & George Harry Flatters Rally will now be a part of the Minisport Cup and the new under 25 championship to be run for the first time by young members of the RAC Club, more details of this when they are available. The rally continues to be a part of the Fuchs Lubricants Motor Sport UK British Historic Championship, the Dennis Motorsport Welsh Historic Championship, the JD Tyres Welsh Tarmac Championship, the King of Epynt Challenge supported by Promotive Engineering and the independent Paint Supplies Rally Challenge.

Things are shaping up again and we have two new championships joining us in 2020. To be announced soon!

Many of you will know already but the Stephens and George Harry Flatters Rally will take place on Sunday July 26th 2020. Save the date!

We haven't given the credit deserved to the marshals on this year's Stephens & George Print Group Harry Flatters Rally. Everything was covered, everyone present did a wonderful job and we have seen nothing but compliments from competitors. It doesn't get any better and we even supplied the weather this year after we received the wrong order last year! We also tried to at least make life a little easier for the start and finish crews and there was a portaloo available at their places of work, we hope this was an improvement that will become the norm.

Rally Roots - The Rally Results Service

For the avoidance of doubt this is the service area plan, nobody should be parked on the 'narrow' side.

Have you thought about entering a team this weekend? Team entries will be available at signing on, 2 cars teams cost £10 with awards for the 4 winners.

We've been missing for a while as we get some of the last minute stuff done, hopefully everyone competing is prepared and the recce team will be up bright and early in the morning to get you on your way!

Almost there! Things are coming together and the final team meeting took place tonight. Tomorrow the staking will start and then the delicate business of making sure everything is correct for the Safety Delegate's inspection on Saturday. The recce crew will be ready and waiting for you on Saturday and the market in Brecon will be set up and ready for 10 o'clock where the cafe will be open from 11 o'clock. It's a massive effort now from all the officials involved and we look forward to seeing everyone at the weekend. Final instructions have now been sent to all who provided a correct email address.

Warning to competitors. As you should know the service area now has to be very strictly controlled. As such only one service vehicle is permitted per competing crew unless an additional pass is purchased. Also, no trailers are permitted in the service area but can be parked in the designated areas on the way to service. Please please communicate this to your service crews as every year there is an expectation that every man and his dog can enter. This also applies to co-driver's cars which can be parked on the grassed area just before service.

This information is in the Final Instructions but does not always filter down to the people who need to know. Also take special care to look at the service area layout and do not park on the left hand side of the road as you enter unless an official authorises it.

Thank you for your understanding, Motorsport UK now dictate that this should happen and the event along with the service area will be graded by the Motorsport UK Safety Delegate on the day.

Mark Worley is looking for an experienced Epynt co-driver to accompany him in his Subaru Impreza.

And for our loyal hard working marshals we have produced strong plastic mugs for this year.

OMG it's getting closer! We think it's all under control and we are looking forward to seeing everyone in Brecon for recce, scrutineering and documentation on Saturday July 27th.

Entries are obviously still available and we would be pleased if you could share this post. The entry will be seeded fairly soon in order to get the list to the printers for the event programme so if you want to be in it enter soon. And the same goes for entries yet to be paid, so get your skates on! 😬
