The 44th Empire State Winter Games (ESWG) Torch Relay kicked off this past Sunday, Jan. 28th from two starting points - the McCann Ice Arena in Poughkeepsie, NY and our very own Holiday Valley Ski Resort here in Ellicottville! The five-day, 700-mile journey culminates in Lake Placid for the Games’ Opening Ceremony, Thursday, Feb. 1st.
With title sponsor Community Bank, N.A., along with supporting sponsors Zappone Motors, Highmark Blue Shield of Northeastern New York, Stewart’s Shops, Local Enhancement and Advancement Fund (LEAF) and Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort, the torch relay is welcomed by dozens of communities along the two routes that will merge in Lake Placid.

Opening Ceremony is Thursday, February 1!
A few important reminders for those attending.
*Opening Ceremony starts at 6:30pm in the 1980 Herb Brooks Arena
*Athletes please meet in the USA Rink, through the Athlete Entrance, starting at 5:45pm
*Parents and spectators are not allowed on the ice in the USA Rink or to participate in the Athlete Parade. Please proceed to the 1980 Rink after dropping your athlete off in the USA Rink
*Athletes will exit back through the USA Rink to meet their parents
