Several years ago, I learned about the heinous practice of human trafficking because a family member, a friend of Tim Ballard, who is the founder of Operation Underground Railroad, had recruited him to help with his organization. I was asked to help recruit viewers and get donations for a film that they had made of one of their sting operations so they could spread the word and gain awareness to stop this evil practice. After viewing the film myself, I could not get the faces of the precious children out of my mind...children who were sold into s*x slavery to be used as objects for vile pedohiles, as if their lives were of no value at all except to be used in this fashion and then be discarded when they were no longer useful. This tragedy occupied my thoughts much of the time. They were ripped from their families, never to have normal lives. No birthday celebrations, no Christmas or Holiday celebrations, no proms or parties or gifts or dates for them. I could not bear to think of this, and yet I could not stop. Some of them were just babies. I attended a Business Mastery course not long after this, hoping to get help with my business, and while there I was called on by Tony Robbins to give the items on my bucket list. With the visions of children being kidnapped and abused still haunting my mind, the first item on my list was to help rescue them from human trafficking. Touched by the unimaginable horror that he had previously been unaware of, Tony set off a firestorm of donations by saying he would donate $100,000.00 to the charity I mentioned, Operation Underground Railroad, if he could rescue 10 kids. The room turned into chaos as everyone joined in, donating whatever money they could, and he matched their donations. It was a beautiful thing to behold, a life-changing event for all of us. Following that, I have learned that there are even more sinister forms of human trafficking, such as organ trafficking, where the victims do not survive at all but have their organs removed, while they are awake, their bodies disposed of carelessly in the most convenient way the perpetrator can find. My desire to help stop this might only make a small difference in a world-wide operation, but as I saw at the Business Mastery Event, one voice can make a huge difference if it reaches the right audience. Tony Robbins is now an ambassador for O.U.R., he has generously matched countless donations for this cause, and millions of dollars have been collected so far to help stop this evil crime because of this once single event. Freedom’s Hope has been established to further my dream of helping to find ways to contribute to the cause of stopping human trafficking in all of its’ forms.
