Dr. Paulos Mar Gregorios & H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama: A bond tied by ideas of peace and harmony.

Dr. Paulos Mar Gregorios ardently pressed the need to divorce conservatism from religion by taking into concern ideas around strengthening faith and instilling socio-cultural harmony amongst people irrespective of their caste, creed, religion or linguistic backgrounds.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama was a great companion to him. Interestingly, Mar Gregorios had a penchant for Buddhist Theology as well. It was no surprise, then, that the Dalai Lama became the first ever recipient of the Dr. Paulos Mar Gregorios Award in 1997; a testimony to their immovable friendship.

Mar Gregorios had a special regard for making academic philosophy seem understandable to laypersons and meticulously worked towards it himself. His takes on indigenous Indian philosophical studies and works are of much acclaim amongst scholars of philosophy in prestigious universities across the world, even today.
