RMS Community Council - RCC

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting our annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon for all the educators/support staff at Riverside Magnet School! It is one of our most favorite events as we get to celebrate all the hard work the teachers, staff, and administrators do every year.

Thanks to donations from parents at the school as well as many local businesses, we were able to raffle off almost 30 different gifts to the teachers ranging from photography sessions to restaurant gift cards and spa night baskets to monthly bundt cake certificates.

No words, nor any amount of delicious food, could ever express the appreciation and gratefulness we as the RCC feel for our educators at RMS. They work tirelessly year round to make sure our children have a strong foundation in literacy, math, science, social studies, music, physical education, art, STEM, health, and library studies. But more importantly, they are shaping our future generation into kind, caring, respectful, nurturing, empathetic humans - and there isn’t much more we could want for our kids.

Thank you RMS staff - we appreciate you more than you’ll ever know!

Hello RMS families! Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week and on Friday 5/10 we are hosting a luncheon for all Riverside Magnet School staff! We do this yearly and as part of the celebration we conduct a raffle for prizes. Last year we were able to get 20+ items/gift cards donated from local businesses but this year we are struggling!

We are asking families if they would like to donate to this raffle either monetarily (Venmo link below) or if you/your family has your own business and would like to donate something, we’d love that too!

It’s the last full day of school at Riverside Magnet School (1/2 day on Friday!) and the RCC wanted to celebrate the staff at the school with a Hot Cocoa bar! And our very own Katie Vallier baked 3 trays of delicious treats! We also purchased RMS spirit wear hats for all employees at the school to keep them warm during those early morning drop off and late afternoon pick up duties!

We are wishing you and yours a very merry holiday season and a healthy New Year! We can’t wait for all the fun events we have planned in the coming months! We hope you all enjoy the much deserved vacation!

Good morning RMS families! Just a quick reminder that Riverside Magnet School is participating in PJ DAY FOR THE KIDS this Friday December 8, 2023! RMS scholars are encouraged to wear their pajamas to show their support for the children at CCMC who wear their PJs for long periods of time during treatment. You can donate online at the link below or cash is being accepted by classroom teachers! Regardless of donation, all scholars may wear pajamas this Friday to school! Please ensure they are school appropriate and all scholars must wear shoes (no slippers please!). Thank you!

It’s conference week at Riverside Magnet School so the RCC is providing teachers with a, “You might not be on vacation yet, but at least your water can taste like you are” bar! Teachers get the chance to decorate their own water bottle with stickers, choose their lid and straw color, and concoct a delicious water from the packets and syrups provided! We hope this gives everyone a smile today! 🌈 😊

We closed down our fall Book Fair today at Riverside Magnet School - we did over $9,000 in sales - about half of which comes back to the school for use on book purchases in the future! The RCC wants to thank all the volunteers who set up, sold books, helped kids, and packed up over the last week!

These kids were excited to show off their Book Fair finds today - dreaming of what they may find in our Spring Collection! 📚 📖 ✏️

Happy Friday RMS families! Don’t forget about the fun happenings at school this weekend!

Trunk or Treat starts at 12:00pm, Saturday 10/28! The weather is going to be beautiful so come show off your costumes to your friends and teachers while visiting the 20+ decorated vehicles! You’ll also be able to see your scholar’s classroom pumpkin decorated as their favorite book character! Vote on your favorite and purchase tickets for a chance to take your classroom pumpkin home!

And while you’re here at Riverside Magnet School, pop into the Scholastic Book Fair in the MPR to get an early opportunity to shop the store! The book fair will be open all week at school including late in the evening (4pm-7pm) on Wednesday for families!
