Lord Dunmore, of Virginia, sent troops against the Indians near Point Pleasant, WV and Athens, OH in the fall of 1774. The bloody conflict put things in perspective for many of the fighters. The Gower Resolves, Fincastle Resolves and Botetourt Resolves were Associational documents that came from Dunmore’s war. These are some the precursors to the Declaration of Independence.
