Last night, Sarah Thune and I premiered James Caldwell's Two Whitman Songs. Commissioned for my final dissertation recital, they were the perfect ending to my final performance as a student at UM. Thank you to Jim for supporting me ever since my beginnings in Macomb, Illinois and playing such a special part in this culminating event of my education. Dear friends, We will be postponing the 2020 Reflections recital program due to a death in my family this week. It has been rescheduled to April 30 at 5 pm in COFAC Recital Hall at Western Illinois University School of Music . We will also have the livestream setup on April 30, so I hope many of you will join us then for this concert.
THIS SATURDAY: My WIU students have been exploring the rich tradition of the African American Spiritual this semester and will present a Studio Voice Recital on 3/26 @ 2 PM Central. Each student will be sharing a researched program note with the audience in addition to a Concert Spiritual setting. We are featuring nine major composers in the Concert Spiritual genre. The public is invited to join us for the performance on Saturday, March 26 at 2 PM Central - either live in COFAC Recital Hall or on the WIU School of Music YouTube Livestream page.
