Round 3 of the Australian Karting Championship @ Newcastle🥇

By far the toughest track I’ve driven, absolutely brutal on the neck & ribs! So hard to put 2 laps together the same. We learnt a lot throughout this weekend, both kart setup & driving. Track position was absolutely vital, as passing around this track was extremely difficult, especially in KZ2.
We qualified P8, after a messy push lap.
Heat 1: We held position for a P8 finish.
Heat 2: Moving forward after a great start to P6.
Heat 3: Still improving the kart, aggressive driving at the start secured a P4 finish.
Heat 4: Grabbing solid points again with P5.
FINAL: A brutal 25 laps. We started out of P4 & jumped to P3 off the start! I tried my best to try stay consistent & keep a stable pace across the whole race eventually crossing the line in P3, securing a podium finish!! We were absolutely over the moon with our first National Round Podium in KZ2! Shortly after, penalties were applied to drivers in P1 & P2 for incidents that occurred during the race. This promoted us to P1 🏆 Not the way I wanted to win, but we’ll take it.

P5 at the first round of the Australian Karting Championship!
Very happy to be dicing up the front all weekend in a very tough field.
Qually - P8
Race 1 - Up to P4 until clutch failure, managed to cross the line in 6th
Race 2 - Started P8 again & managed to grab a P3 finish.
Race 3 - started in P4 & grabbed another P3 finish & the fastest lap of the race!
Race 4 - started out of P4 & got spun around by another kart in the first lap, unable to continue.
Final Race - Started P8, had a great start & got into P4 in the first couple of laps. Unfortunately our pace early on wasn’t enough to hang on... After some wild racing, we ended up finishing P5 & the kart had great speed at the end of the race 💪🏽

Race Highlights from the 2022 Tander Cup!
We had a blast over the weekend racing the BMW in Improved Production. The car handled great all day! We started with a pole in qualifying & a new PB time, 61.1s. I dropped down to P2 early in race 1 but managed to regain the lead after a close battle with John Callegari, which made for some wicked gopro footage! Race 2 & 3 were both reverse grid, so getting ahead of the faster cars early in the race was key while fighting through the rest of the field.
I’d like to thank Paul from Autostrada for coming down to help on the car all day & of course, my old man for making sure the car was ready to rock for this event.
