Our buddy Fictitious farm is having a half pig raffle. Such good odds. Don't miss out.

Get your chance to fill your freezer with a half pig! All cuts are vacuum sealed and labeled. It's also a great cause for the kiddos at the ymca.

Hi we have been quiet on here- still getting use to this new addition to the farm but slowly figuring each other out. We now have our website back open for local meat orders and will start doing weekly deliveries to Catskill. Link in bio. https://begoldenfarms.com/store ❤️Excited for the 2024 season to begin, can’t wait to see what this year brings. ✌🏽

Gratitude. Deep heart felt thanks, is a hard one to express in words. We so casually say thank you all the time that when you mean it down to your bones what do you say? The past few weeks our community has turned up for us. We have had no less than two visitors everyday since we’ve been home from the hospital. Dropping off warm meals, gifts, just bathing in the joy that there is a new baby on this earth. Then there’s the neighbor who cooked us three course steak dinner, another who made homemade lactation cookies that Pat ate just as many as I did, and yet another who answered my frantic late night call when I had a high fever. How how can I ever find the words to thank you? How to return the kindness? ❤️ I’m not sure I ever can but eternally grateful to feel embraced by all of you. We love you. Thank you. 🙏🏼

Last photo of us before we officially became a family farm late Tuesday night. Momma and baby are feeling happy and healthy. Thankful to .events for keeping an eye on everything at the farm for us. Be Golden Baby has no idea what’s waiting for him at home. 😊

Busy night on the farm. This warm weather gave us a chance to take a long walk around the pond and see all the fresh tracks left in the snow. Opossum, fox, coyotes and deer were all around. Seems like even with the big storm everyone was still out and about. It’s a nice reminder that we share this space with all kinds of critters. ❤️

I love the week between Christmas and New Years. Days don’t exist and it just feels like one long cookie eating, PJ wearing, board game playing marathon before we have to get serious about resolutions. I hope you all can be like Nori here and fully get lost in the moment🤭

Holiday roasts are live on the website! Plus plenty of other farm raised meats to stock your freezer with this Winter. Don’t worry I included what I think you should cook with each cut. And I’m also happy to come over and help eat whatever you end up making. 😬

Teddy helping me keep an eye on things. New feeder for the sheep. Trying to make routine every day chores easier, for me and for when i’ll need others to help. It took me 30 minutes to build but I’ve been living with sheep 💩 in their feeder for 4 years. Why is it so hard to see what can be streamlined when you’re so accustomed to it?

Last day of gardening and landscaping for the 2023 season. We got to work on some really cool projects but as always my favorite part was working with the “garden girls”. Thank you for being the greatest, caring about the gardens as much as I do, and letting me show you every single bug I find. 😘 Already dreaming/scheming for 2024. 🤘🏾

Good morning beautiful farm.

Keeping with tradition all Spooky Season decor must come from the volunteer pumpkin patch that’s grown out of the compost pile for the past two years. 🎃 👻 💀So far only 9 orange jack-o-lanterns compared to last years bucket full of 22 Long Island Cheese.

Feeling pretty lucky to be wrapping up another successful landscaping season. Started fall shutdowns today and only have a few installs left for the rest of the year. Most excited about this native planting and “rewilding” project I’m getting to design More eastern redbuds and hemlocks always! ❤️

As of 10:20a we are officially the D’Ark Family! 🎉 When we were married in 2016 we each didn’t do any official name changes but now with Farm Baby due in January we decided we needed a family name, D’Onofrio + Clark= D’Ark 🌚 🍕 🐐 Be Golden, D’Ark Family! ❤️

Seven, is one of our 2022 lambs and the only ewe we retained last year. As we slowly start to go through and assess all our lambs from this year it’s nice to remind ourselves of the quality we are looking for in a “Keeper” and Seven is truly knockout 🥰

All this rain means lots of mushrooms! I have 3 simple rules for mushroom foraging. Never eat anything you’re not 110% positive you can ID (this means checking with others when you first start out). Always use a basket or net bag, so you continue to spread spores as you walk through the woods. And never take more than you can reasonably eat in a few days. 🍄✌🏽

Be Golden Farms. Not b e e like bug 🐝, not B like the letter, not beagle 🐶. If I knew how much I would have to spell/explain/correct our name I think I would have picked a different one but it’s Be Golden, to remind you to stay golden. 🌈 Be Golden indeed.

The first year we had pigs an Oldtimer told me, “you can always tell how healthy a pig is by the curl in their tail.” Sure enough one of our pigs got sick that year and her tail went pin straight! Idk how much truth there is to old wives tails but this is one of those things is still look for every morning when I check the pigs. Nice curly tails! 🍥🐷

It’s called fashion, Honey. Look it up. 😅 harvesting garlic scapes all day and their twisty cork screw tails have me feeling extra silly. Did you know garlic scapes is actually the garlic plant trying to flower?

Get yourself a neighbor who brings you a bouquet of flowers, “because it’s gonna rain and they’ll go to waste.”

Lambs under the smoke blocked sun. I used to think of upstate NY as “safe” from climate change; we have wet forests, hard winters to kill pests, incredible soil to grow real food. And then all this smoke shows up and reminds me, that’s a lame way to think about things. That’s a very “not my problem” attitude, which is the kind of thinking that got us into this mess. Because really it’s all of us in this together, on this one not so big blue planet. Earth will be fine without us, it’s if we want to work together to save ourselves. I know I do. I think that’s beautiful.

Lilacs are absolutely one of my favorite smells. They also mark the beginning of the growing season for me. I keep a 365 day journal and any big weather (snow/record heat) or natural event (bloom date/migration sighting) I write down year after year. It lets me see how much things have changed and mostly how nature seems to balance herself out. This year has me worried that it’s already too hot and too dry, but a quick look in my journal says we’re only 4 days ahead of 2017. Now I can spend less time worrying and more time getting things in the ground 💪🏽 It’s go time!
