Y.U.P is an educational and recreational organization that revitalizes the ideas of the 1980’s term and definition of young urban professionals, otherwise known as a “yuppie”. In short, a yuppie is a young city or suburban resident with a well-paid professional job and an affluent lifestyle.Young urban professionals are considered people that are between the ages of 20 and 30 years old, earning go
od pay, enjoying the cultural attractions of sophisticated urban/suburban life and thought, a well-paying job in law, finance, academia, or consulting in a cultural hub, hip fashion, cool appearance, studied poise, elite education, proper recreation and fitness and in the arts. The aims of this organization is not to exclude those who do not fit the criteria previously mentioned but to assist the student body in attaining attributes of a “yuppie” that they feel they are weak in and for those who feel they are stronger in certain areas to share their knowledge and information to assist fellow members. These events may include; mini job fairs, fundraising, community service, fashion shows, motivational/inspirational speaking on/off campus and a plethora of programs covering the foundation of what a “yuppie” is.
