The emergency rental assistance program provides rental assistance to eligible households who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible households may receive up to $2,000 per month in rental assistance, with a total assistance limit of $36,000 for up to 18 months. As of April 1, 2023, ERAP is available only as rental assistance. New eligible applicants may apply for past-due (arrears) and up to three months of future rent assistance. Utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and home energy costs are covered, and internet, phone, and cable are also eligible.
