Carrie Phelps - Stained Glass Panels
Stained glass panels made with scrap glass, recycled items and grout.
My plan was to start work on a panel but it wasn’t meant to be. I’m beginning work on my third mannequin and just found the colors need for a sunset.
My second mannequin, I used non-sanded grout on the black areas (which made the work on this so much longer) and brown sanded grout on the rest.
I have finally finished my second mannequin - flower power! These are the before and after pictures of it with polyurethane. Once dried I’ll post more pictures.
I really wanted to grout my latest mannequin with black grout . I was unable to find sanded black grout, so I bought unsanded and I’m paying such a high price for it now. It’s like trying to take hardened tar off of glass.
My mannequin is done!
I’m so close to being done with the mannequin 💕

I’m busy working on my mannequin today. 💕
Progress on the mannequin, every spare moment I have goes into working on this. These are pictures with light from the window behind the mannequin.
I wanted a challenge, boy did I give myself one! Working on this mannequin is HARD!
Feeling the need to try something new I picked up this mannequin, I’m so excited!

The third installment of my cat series; abstract cat. 19" x 23" $300.00
The suncatcher I made, I think it would be so much nicer if each section was free spinning, these are not because they’re connected with wire so I ordered some fishing swivels.
I’m trying something new, sun catchers. Wouldn’t you know it while making the very first one I broke a drill bit. I’ll post a picture once it’s dried and hung.
Sea Life - whale, two dolphins, one shark, one fish, one turtle & I added a ceramic star fish.
In the years I’ve been creating panels I’ve never before made one for myself. Grieving my son Derrick, both he and I shared the favorite color of green.
I finally finished work on my large panel that contains a whale, a shark, two dolphins, a turtle & a fish. Lots of pretty blue shades. Once we get a sunny day I'll post pictures. To reward myself I next began work on a much smaller & simpler panel.
Today I grouted a few small panels and started a very large (long) panel with a whale and dolphins 💕

I just grouted a pair of colorful cats.
My story
Each one of a kind panel may contain hidden images and/or 3D items to bring your eyes to a specific area within the panel. I purchase scrap glass at either my local glass store or at yard sales - at times I get inspiration in the colors & textures that I find in these boxes of scraps. In a few of my panels there is “grass”, this is created using a larger piece(s) of glass and nippers. Other than these blades of grass I DO NOT cut glass, every form created is made with small scraps placed in such a way that a picture is formed. Once the colored/textured glass is attached to a single pane of glass I fill in the spaces with tile grout. Once the grout is dried I use a small sharp tool to scrape the grout off the glass and a scrub sponge to polish the glass. Each panel is then attached (with silicone) to a frame that I have thought very carefully about pairing together. I may or may not spray paint the frame - each frame is “used” and displays small defects/knicks in the paint. I’m forever looking for ordinary items I may include in my panels. I put my heart and soul into each panel and each contains a little piece of who I am. I wish I could take pictures in such a way that you could see the beauty of each panel, please feel free to contact me to make an appointment to view the panels. I do not ship so each panel will be delivered locally. I love each of my panels and I hope you are able to feel the love in each.
