🚸 Attention Parents: First Day of School Dismissal Update 🚸

We're excited for the new school year! Please note that our first-day dismissal will take longer than usual. Here's what to expect:

✅ Teachers are double-checking each student's transportation method
✅ Car rider line may extend until 4:00 PM
✅ Staff members are personally escorting students to their vehicles
✅ Process will speed up daily - by week 2, we'll dismiss 520+ students in under 15 minutes!

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we prioritize safety over speed. Together, we're ensuring a smooth start to the school year!

We understand that you have questions regarding our policy of not permitting parents into the building on the first day of school. Below, you will find some of the key reasons for this approach:

1. Safety and Security: Limiting access can help maintain a controlled environment, ensuring that only authorized individuals are in the building. This can help prevent any potential safety risks.
2. Transition Management: The first day of school can be chaotic as students adjust to new classes, schedules, and teachers. Keeping parents out can help minimize distractions and allow staff to focus on student needs.
3. Focus on Student Experience: The first day is often geared towards helping students acclimate to their new environment. Keeping parents out allows for more focus on this process instead of dual interactions with adults.
4. Logistical Challenges: Managing the flow of parents and students entering and exiting the building can be challenging. Keeping parents outside can streamline drop-off procedures and reduce congestion.

We recognize that this decision may be difficult for some parents and we acknowledge that perspectives may vary regarding our rationale. We sincerely appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the well-being of your children and strive to ensure a smooth transition on the first day of school.

We invite you to join us tomorrow evening, Friday, August 9th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, for an opportunity to meet your child's teacher and explore the campus, including the classroom. We look forward to an exciting and successful school year ahead!

Here are some maps of how Drop Off and Pick Up will work this year. This is the same way that drop off and pick up happened last year. If you have any questions about drop off or pick up, feel free to call up to the school so we can clarify.

Parents/Guardians - please make sure you locate your students' car rider tags from last year. If you need replacements, they will be available for $5 each at Meet the Teacher (please see Mrs. Russell). If you are new to High Point or new to being a car rider your first two tags are provided. Remember that no students may be picked up in the car rider line without a tag.

Stay safe everyone.

Hurricane Beryl is expected to make landfall sometime Sunday evening and while only projected to be a Category 1 which will be MUCH lower than Hurricane Harvey's Cat 4, this storm still bringing a lot of rain with it. The National Weather Service graphic below shows we can expect between 5-10 inches to fall in our area from tonight through Tuesday. Wind impacts are not expected to be severe but we will still likely see sustained winds of 30-40 miles per hour with possible gusts up to 50 mph or higher. As always with these storms, power outages are a possibility and we are asking if anyone with specialized medical needs such as oxygen or other equipment where you might need additional assistance contact us at 979-204-4592 so we can be prepared to help you if the need arises. We will be monitoring this storm until its gone and will be updating this site with the latest information on closed roads, localized flood alerts, etc.
