Norse ASL Club

The NKU ASL minor had our second annual graduation ceremony. We celebrated our 4 graduates and had some cake to celebrate the momentous occasion. Sign Language graduation Kentucky University # deaf education

We had an amazing turn out for our NKU Deaf community panel of more than 40 people! Annie Welch and the NKU ASL Club hosted this event at the MEP building on campus. We would like to thank our panel guests: Carol Williams, Jeanie Funk, Anthony Adkins, Bob Coltrane, and Ally Welch. As well as our interpreters for the event: Kristen Bowen and Felicia Frantz. We hope to see even more people at our next Deaf community panel!

We had a fantastic bake sale this semester inside the Student Union at NKU. This sale helped us to raise money for a trip to Washington DC to go visit Gallaudet university and Deaf businesses. There was a great turn out of support and we met so many people! Looking forward to the next bake sale!

Tonight at 5pm is our Deaf Community Panel! We will have members of the Deaf Community talk about their experiences. Interpreters will be provided! See you tonight!

Beginning ASL I (EDU 110) is being offered during the summer at NKU from May 8th - Aug 11! This course will be asynchronous (completely online), so you can work at your own pace from almost anywhere you’d like. Register quickly, as seats are already filling!

This is a very exciting opportunity for anyone who’s interested in learning ASL! We highly recommend that you take advantage of it!

*IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT*

The Kentucky Deaf Festival will take place, this Saturday, in Danville, KY. If you are interested in tagging along with/following the club to the event, we will meet at the loop by Steely Library and depart at 9AM, sharp. 

For those of you who are driving, please arrive no later than 8:45 AM at the loop and proceed to the lineup. If you need directions to the loop, please send us a message.

If you need/desire to carpool, please leave a comment on this post and we will see if anyone has room for you. If you’ve already made arrangements with a driver, you need not comment on this post.
