Fantastic news with Luker Kentfield selected by Melbourne in the mid season draft today.
Great reward for his continual drive for improvement.
He was a major part of our Fast Start Squad and the inaugural exhibition game that has now turned into annual showcase of talent.

Over the past 6 years Fast Start has enjoyed helping boys navigate the pathway from Community football to the WAFL.
As a sign we are on the right track Saturday, it was a thrill to see 39 players who have been part of Fast Start along the way played for Subiaco over the 4 grades v East Perth in the pre season practice match & round 4 Futures game at Leederville.

80% of the top 10 draftees played State Football in the U12s.
Some say you can’t identify talent at relatively young ages. I have always held the belief that game education and skill training is essential at all ages.
Football is enjoyable and should be but it also requires a level of work.
The fact that 8 of the top 10 drafted last night played in the National Schools u12s Carnival in Darwin in 2017 suggests that not only is talent being identified at 11, the ongoing skill and next level training young players are then doing delivers them 6 years later as a draftee.
Not suggesting you should become singularly focussed on football at 11 or 12 but if you love the game and want to get better - get to work when you play and train and who knows.

Proud of everyone of these boys and cant wait to see what’s ahead of them.

Wow! Tonight’s game was impressive and to be honest the ability of the boys in black to put in to practice the education from Shane Woewodin and Beau McDonald was way better than I expected. Excellent run and spread and ball movement which normally takes focussed team training time but we really achieved it in 2 sessions.
Great work from the boys who joined us from Subi 15s to try and blend with some of our Fast Start members and a few randoms to make up the team in white and naturally their cohesion was not there in the beginning.
A few changes at half time and the boys in white clicked into gear for a high scoring last quarter once they had some structure.
No idea on the score because we really don’t care, it’s the style and quality we want.
Great series, great group to work with and we wish the best to all those embarking on Futures and Colts preseason trials.
Hopefully we make a difference.

The plan is now close to being finalised with a couple of important updates.
Session 8 Friday 3 November will move to Thursday 2 November - 4.45-6.15pm
Session 9 the game is likely to be Sat 11 November 2023
