We drove about an hour from Winnipeg to Portage La Prairie to swim and enjoy the slides at Splash Island Waterpark and to see the Island Park.

We loved the beautiful flowers in the garden right beside Splash Island. We also enjoyed seeing the Dutch-style windmill and the genuine Royal Canadian Airforce CT-133 Silverstar aircraft displayed beside the beautiful Crescent Lake in Island Park, Portage La Prairie.

Join us as we visit Hecla Island (Hecla-Grindstone Provincial Park) in Manitoba, Canada.

The island was named after a famous landmark and active volcano, Mount Hekla. Icelanders settled on the island around 1870s.

Hecla became a Provincial Park in 1969. In 1997, Grindstone was added to its name so it is now called Hecla-Grindstone Provincial Park.

Our family loves travelling and going to places. This summer 2022, we have been checking out the beautiful places here in Manitoba. We drove 2-1/2 hours from Winnipeg to see and hear the waves of the beautiful Lake Manitoba at Steep Rock.

Considered as one of the most photographed sites here are the lime stone cliffs along the shore of Lake Manitoba.

Lake Manitoba is the 14th largest lake in Canada and 33rd largest lake in the world.
