Our Emme upholstery fabric features a chenille high-low effect with a rustic distressed texture. Derived from the results of a hand-dyed art piece. Folded based on the traditional Japanese art form Shibori, the dye traces left behind create a free-flowing symmetrical grid. This pattern celebrates the organic course the dye takes as it seeps into resisted areas on the cloth, emphasizing the beauty and movement of nature as it takes control. Our Ata upholstery fabric celebrates the perfectly imperfect making it an ideal base cloth to anchor any space. Inspired by the subtle and varied grids of artist Agnes Martin, this design was originally created using bits of steel fiber combined with steam to create tiny haphazard marks on fabric. A delicate structure of lines and breaks that ebb and flow with space to breathe much like the irregularity of nature’s structures.
