*Match Report*
Haydock v HFH
6th April 2024
What a morning, 6 inches deep in mud, oh and throw in some wind into the equation.
The Hornets got off to a flying start when Ava forced her way over the line, with the conversion missed Hornets were 4-0 up. Both teams were struggling to hold onto the ball due to the playing conditions and it took a typical Arabella weaving run through the Haydock defence to increase the lead to 8-0.
Some strong running and dinky runs from the Haydock girls was enough to finally break the Hornets defence and with the conversion successful Haydock were back in the game at 8-6. The following 7 to 8 minutes had both teams pressing each otherβs line but it was the Hornets who always looked favourites to put the next points on the scoreboard and with the last few minutes of the first half ticking away Arabella crossed the line with Lexie converting making the halftime score Haydock 6 : HFH 14
The second half stated in the same vein as the first half. An excellent kick off from Arabella went dead having bounced in the in-goal area. As a result, it was fitting that it was Arabella who smashed over the line to increase the lead to 18-6. With the condition of the pitch deteriorating by the minute it was understandable that errors would be made and following a dropped ball giving Haydock possession they were able to pull 4 points back with the conversion being missed. The next 10 minutes, albeit points free seen some good physical rugby from both sides. It was clear to see that both teams were feeling the pace but Libby from acting halfback used her pace to score in the corner despite 2 Haydock girls trying to drag her down, the conversion was successful by Keira. Haydock 10 HFH 24
The scoring was concluded by the hard-working Haydock girls with the final score: *Haydock 16 : HFH 24*

*23rd March - vs Leigh Miners - Match Day Report.*
Played on a heavy Wilmere lane pitch on a windy, cold morning.
Hornets got off to a great start with Izabelle scoring the first try with only 1 minute on the clock converted by Arabella 6-0.
Izabelle was on the score sheet again 3 minutes later when she smashed her way through the Leigh defence touching down in the corner, it was Lexie this time with the conversion 12-0
Hornets were playing some excellent rugby and on 9 minutes Arabella added a further 4 points with Emily adding the extra 2 points
18-0
With the forwards running the ball in hard supported by the backs it was only a matter of time before Hornets increased their lead and how fitting that it was Izabelle who completed her hat trick and to put the icing on the cake she converted her own try which she celebrated more than any of her tries
24-0
The second half continued as the first half had ended and 4 minutes in Arabella scored her second try of the game.
28-0
It would have been easy for Leigh to throw the towel in but they stuck to the task and were rewarded with a try and conversion
28-6
With their tails up Leigh applied pressure on the Hornets line but excellent team defending kept them out.
Following good sets from both sides it was Evieβs turn to get herself a try having just been held up short of the line a minute earlier.
32-6
Leighβs fight was still in the game and they managed to get another well deserved try and goal making it 36-12
With the game coming to and end a well deserved 3rd try was scored by Arabella making the final score:
HFH 36 : Leigh Miners 12
Every girl should be proud of their efforts πππ
