Hello friends, first: Happy Holidays!

Second: Do any of you know if this is still an issue?? Risk of heart pacing batteries running out much greater in babies. Higher heart rates = battery life drain.

❤️👏👏 Finley and M Health Fairview Masonic Children's Hospital!!

At just seven days old, Finley Ashfield had her first open heart surgery for a rare, but serious congenital heart defect called isolated left pulmonary artery, making it difficult for her to breathe. Now, she’s a national award-winning dancer.

Soon after Finley was born, our expert surgeons worked fast to perform a life-saving procedure that would keep both her lungs functional and create a connection between her left lung and her heart. After two more surgeries to sustain her heart into childhood, Finley didn’t just grow – she’s been able to pursue her dreams.

“Finley is extraordinary,” said Gurumurthy Hiremath, MD, a pediatric cardiologist and associate professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School. “She’s just amazing the amount of dancing and exertion she can do.”

Though Finley will eventually need another surgery to support her growing heart, Hiremath isn’t willing to rush after seeing how well Finley’s heart and lungs perform when tested.

"I never feel like I have a hard time breathing,” Finley said.
