Just warning folks, I caught an unauthorised logging to my FB and Insta accounts today. I think I’ve caught FB in time, still working on Insta security, but don’t respond to any new friend requests from ‘me’
What a great info panel

Darebin becomes the first city in Australia to endorse the call for a global Plant Based Treaty! 🌱 🎉
Darebin joins a global movement of 30 towns and cities, including Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and Edinburgh, in endorsing the Plant Based Treaty. The proposed treaty advocates for a shift towards a plant-based food system that is aligned with the Paris Agreement.
Darebin Mayor Susanne Newton, who learned about Plant Based Treaty when a local resident sent an email asking her to endorse it, expressed enthusiasm about the Council’s decision:
“I encourage other Australian councils and our region to consider the Plant Based Treaty. As one of the regions of the world that could suffer some of the worst climate impacts, we should and can be doing all we can to change our habits for the better.”
Sheena Chhabra, Plant Based Treaty Australia campaigner, welcomed the endorsement:
“Darebin is setting a powerful example in promoting plant-based food and recognizing the urgency of adopting a global Plant Based Treaty to agree on a safe and just food system. Now is the perfect time for individuals to sign the Plant Based Treaty and encourage their councils to endorse it ahead of COP29.”

Did you know that over 80% of the EU’s subsidies are being allocated to animal-based products. That means that we aren't paying the true cost for those products & in turn seem like we are paying more for plant-based items.
When will we see a shift? 🌍🌱

This is the brutal truth behind our continued callous use and abuse of animals
Horses bolting through the streets of London, smeared in blood - a sight some onlookers initially thought must be a film shoot.
Our public spaces are so carefully sanitised of the endless violence perpetrated against animals, that when a rare moment of truth explodes into the general consciousness, it's very telling how that experience is framed.
An outpouring of support and concern from well-meaning people, have called for the horses to be retired to a loving sanctuary, where they can live out their days in peace. As members of the Household Cavalry (British Army) they have 'served their country" and deserve to rest.
At the local race track, many other horses are forced to race and hurdle, where a broken leg will result in a bullet to the head behind a flimsy screen, lest the public be 'inconvenienced'. This reality is so common that punters will cheerfully continue sipping champagne and placing bets on the next victims.
In restaurants and homes throughout the world, a holocaust of violence is presented upon plates and in cups, the contents an abstraction of body parts and secretions from animals who lived in terror and anguish for most of their short, miserable lives. Unlike the horses running through the London streets, these animals' very existence will be carefully hidden and obfuscated behind a veil of polite agreement that it is a necessary evil.
Bear witness to the fear and desperation for freedom these horses have shown us. Think of the billions of animals desperate for that same freedom and don't look away this time.

Whenever we post about how being vegan conserves SO MUCH water, omnis love to tell us how there's a water cycle -- so we can never run out.
What they fail to realize is that ONLY 1% of the Earth's water is clean AND accessible.
So, the Earth won't run out. But WE can, and do, run out. Wells run dry.
You can help by changing your food choices 🌱💧

This is pretty clear
FACT: Shifting away from animal agriculture completely would free up more than 3 billion hectares of land, equivalent to the size of Africa (Poore & Nemecek, 2018).
Abolishing animal agriculture is the single biggest way to restore world’s rainforest. Plant Based Treaty’s third principle “Restore” focuses on restoring key ecosystems and reforesting the planet. Please write to your city representatives asking them to endorse it today: https://plantbasedtreaty.org/city-action/

The plant based treaty is a movement that aims to build awareness and support in government for the shift to plant based eating as a major step in combatting climate change. Despite mounting scientific evidence that it is the most significant change all ifivials can make to reverse climate destabilisation and environmental collapse many people remain unaware of its effectiveness.
A Plantbased Treaty advocate made Australia’s first presentation to Council in The Melbourne suburb of Port Philip Recently.

Yet again George Monboit cuts to the heart of the problem, exposing the tactics used to keep people enslaved to an increasingly deadly, abusive and xenocidal food choice. The big money behind the meat and dairy industries are blocking change on a geo-political scale, right as the world needs it most to halt the environmental and climate collapse that creeps closer with every billion animals bred to eat.
