Love this article. Chael Sonnen, while a decent fighter, is a terrible human being. Champions usually have some degree of character, which is why Chael never won a title. It's one thing to be conceited (which many pro athletes are), but his blatant racism and misogyny puts his likability below even that of Conor McGregor. No one will remember him, except maybe as an example of how not to live.

Anderson Silva has never been the same since that 2013 knockout. You'd think he'd had learned his lesson about dropping his hands and taunting, but I guess not. He's been one of my favorites, but I hope this was his last fight.

UFC Fight Night thoughts:
1) I didn't agree with the TJ Dillashaw stoppage. Yes he was in trouble, but he wasn't done. He was scrambling and defending. Once he stops doing that and just covers up, then stop the fight. These guys are fighters, let the fight be finished definitively. However, TJ's statement that "you didn't beat me" is a little bit laughable. He was in the process of getting mauled.
2) Very happy for Paige VanZant. Seems like she was more lucky than formidable. She's right to say that she has stuff to work on. Hope she continues to win.
3) I wasn't aware of the Greg Hardy controversy until tonight. He shouldn't have been on the same card as Rachel. Any man who uses his fists to beat his girlfriend shouldn't get to use those fists to make a living. Between that and his disqualification tonight, I'm guessing he won't be in the UFC too long.

My new least-favorite fighter. After winning her FIRST fight in the UFC, she has the temerity to say that her next fight "better be on a big card b/c I’m someone to watch, I don’t belong on a small card. I am a person that fights on a big card."
Like many 20-year-olds, she obviously has no concept of "paying your dues". Maycee Barber, you are currently NOBODY in the UFC. You've beat a few girls that NOBODY has ever heard of. Big cards have to be earned, and you are at the back of a LONG line. Save the Conor McGregor routine for after you've beat someone decent.

My favorite performance from UFC 225: Curtis Blaydes. I've seen him fight a couple times and knew he was a top up-and-comer, but I NEVER thought he'd destroy Overeem the way he did! Anybody who can do that is going to be a title contender for a long time!
